Is it just a little possible that because of the constant destruction of privacy we can't have heroes any more?
And that we never really had them in the first place?

It's obvious in hindsight, that everyone would try to cannibalize the social network through specialization and gimmicks. Add another “Instagram of video” app to the bandwagon. Keek , a smartphone-based social video application, announced on Tuesday that it raised $7 million in a second round of fi...

If the US govt not only removes all military presence in whatever form but also stops all economic and military aid to all countries in the region included Israel , it would be interesting to speculate on how the power map would look like. Assuming that the free market is not disturbed by governmen...

Did not have a chance to check the thread first, apologies if this has been posted. This struck me, from Wikipedia: On September 11, hours before the attacks, in response to the promotion of the film and in anticipation of protests, the US Embassy in Cairo issued the following statement: "The ...

My mistake, apparently the below is the full trailer. One can expect its location to be in some flux for the next while! mjoa3QazVy8 I find it intersting the degree to which stories that mention this movie do not give details, even the movie's name! I imagine they are trying to pander to the censors...

The journalists seem to have fallen down on the job with regards to the movie in question. The movie is called "the Innocence of Muslims" and here is the trailer.

Re: Research and Development; Invention and Innovation
The only way transistor counts are doubling these days is by adding more cores; this won't be productive indefinitely, partly due to limitations in the efficiency of parallel computing, and partly due to the laws of physics, which Moore's Law, unfortunately, cannot trump. It may take breakthroughs ...

Spengie keeps saying that all this was necessary in order to stop the banks collapsing.
He does not ask the question, what if they did? I'm not convinced that such a collapse would be worse for us than the present situation.

Medical complications are always possible in surgery. In large studies of infant circumcision in the United States, reported inpatient complication rates range from 0.2% to 2.0%, according to the CDC. For populations numbering in the hundreds of millions, that's not a trivial amount, especially giv...

Re: Spengler Discovers Dangerous Circumcision
It's worth saying here at that earlier today a friend of mine made the 'abortion argument' in favor of allowing circumcision on infants.
IOW, if we don't have legitimate circumcision offered on infants in hospitals, there will be back alley circumcisions.
I think he's got a point.
