Re: Romney vs. Obama

I was saying that the social progressives have no higher aspiration than to replace the present "wealthy and powerful minority" with another "wealthy and powerful minority" that better suits them. Not even wrong. ^ This from a guy who serially misunderstands everything I write. ;)

Re: Romney vs. Obama

Well then I guess it was your baseless stereotypes that threw me off. My fault, of course. The left doesn't think in terms of 'political perfection'. They believe in 'Progress', that the system can be improved if responsibly governed. For better or worse when y'all spread the false Spengleri...

Re: Romney vs. Obama

I understand what you were getting at. But at the bottom line I reject the notion that you're getting at, that people are hopelessly corrupt, cannot govern themselves, so we should let go and let god. I simply don't agree with it. That's not my position. But thanks for guessing badly again. And you...

Re: Romney vs. Obama

Yea, and we get to the heart of the matter, religious extremism. No, and I figured you couldn't get past your stereotypes to get the analogy. But I figured others would understand the point. Including some of the atheists on this board, btw. You view politics as inherently sinful and anyone who wou...

Re: Romney vs. Obama

cgdt Your system requires ideological perfection, it's not pragmatic. It assumes that we'll have gridlock 100% of the time, but that's not going to happen. Your methods of imperfect Gridlock ensure that it only gets worse as people define their hopes for political outcomes based around the notion o...

Re: Anyone care to define social justice...?

So far, it seems, social justice is: Something a 19th century jesuit said it meant in the context of the industrial age. Whatever billions of people who use it think it means, obviously . Achieving the status of a caged gerbil. A extremely localized version of federalism. Whatever it is, it loves co...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

This is interesting. ... Over the last 4 years I have seen an unbelievable increase in the size of the industry. According to a FOIA we submitted to the NFA Branch of the BATFE, in 2008 there were just over 20,000 form 4 transfers for silencers. In 2011 they recorded over 50,000. Also, after asking...

Re: Romney vs. Obama

I see this a lot these days but I'm not sure where one goes with it. It has no solution: neither party nor gridlock solve the above, so why would it change one's voting behavior? IOW, if the game is rigged, but it's the only one in town, what good does it do not to play, and lose your only shot? Co...

Re: The Wonders and Magic of Austerity

I'll give it a shot...
  • Austerity: n. When your creditors turn off the spigot.
    • This works out well for the debtors, as they can then blame the consequences on their creditors.

Re: Anyone care to define social justice...?

Oh, and please do ...

Re: Let's Just Say It, the Republicans Are the Problem

Both parties are pathetic, but a distinct subset of the GOP are the worst of the worst in American politics today. I'm sorry. I thought the Constitution defined what the government ought to do/ be/ value. I don't remember stuff about private excesses and whatnot. ^ Antiquated notion. If you're clearly drunk- as I would be on mandatory voting day. I mean drunk. Snot slinging, knee walking, crap - somebody- else's- pants kinda drunk- do they still make you vote? There could be a great deal of low- order comedy here. And I am only slightly serious. I think that as much as ideology...

Re: Obama Romney Dog Controversey: Eating vs. Driving.......

Obama's incompetence is not a faith based narrative. It's an opinion based on solid evidence. A good president doesnt have his numbers, doesn't have a record of stranding his own team in legislation that he personally wanted; they don't get Shanghai'd by congressional leadership on their flagship e...
