Re: Shots fired at the Capitol

2nd hand info from a Secret Service vet of 10+ years...the Secret Service detail are calling the D.C. cops firing the shots "Takleberrys"...gun happy character from Police Academy movie. He said the CCTV showed she didn't "ram" the barrier by the White House, but at best bumped i...

Re: Shots fired at the Capitol

From this side of the pond it looks like another example of excessive force being used in a situation where clearly no public person or institution was at risk. A mother of a 18 month old child was killed without any justification but the current police paranoia. I'm sure American citizens will fee...

Sorry Pepe, T with Cheese would have been appropriate, but they didn't chose it. Let's just say it will include a word that rhymes with "thimble." I'm starting to think those damn TLAMs were our worst military invention...a weapon that served a specific purpose (take out deep targets, espe...

Impeach???? For what...so those liberty-lovng Repubs can swoop in and do...the...same...thing? The proposal, funding approval and authorities for the hardware, personnel and work spaces would have to originate at least 5-years before some of these programs (PRISM, data centers, specific parsing pro...

I've been reading a bunch of small and first time authors with Kindle Prime lending library. Some pretty good o decent (zombie books like 900 Miles and Apocalypse Z: the beginning of the end, a sci-fi "Doom Star Series", John Ringo's funny but biased "Live Free or Die," another s...

"Lost credibility"? hah, this is face saving, these are outlaws and criminals. Time to impeach. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/06/06/ny-times-editorial-board-obama-administration-lost-credibility_n_3398666.html With Glenn Greenwald's bombshell scoop in The Guardian that the NSA collec...

Re: Boston Marathon Explosion

I hadn't thought about the citywide lockdown, but we never heard more than "this guy is dangerous." It seems like a procedure that could potentially be abused in the future. Though it also seems to have worked, and many people don't mind surrendering rights for security. The lockdown and ...

Without universal healthcare, this is what happens: a legal maze of requirements and exceptions designed to deny coverage. BTW, isn't this the guy who tried to capitalize on his role in the Bin Laden assassination by authoring a book without the Pentagon's approval? Different guy. This guy was the ...

Tea Party or Conservative...only one who has said anything that makes sense in this is Senator R. Paul. They should vote enmass "present" on every and all bills that the President demands. They should take the official position that it will allow Americans to see the effects of his policie...

Held one of these today at the local shop. Feels good (only ~6.5 lbs), versatile, decent round (.308)...I've been back and forth between a .270, 30-06, .308 and 7mm Rem Mag for a bigger thump gun that can handle any game in the lower-48, plentiful ammo, and not scare a 110 lb woman with recoil if sh...

Good for you Mr. P; makes the decision easier. My gun guru at work has me thinking about a 7mm option for the med-long range gun. I saw a nice Remington 700 7mm for half what I'd pay for a different caliber AR upper.

I think the big revelation this election is that the political parties do not truly represent voters but rather function as private compa...

Mr. P, I don't get to the range enough to feel confident beyond 1000 yds, and I doubt I can get away with dropping $6K for my desired AWSM plus a good scope. To get in the 2500s for accurate shots...no way. I'll stick with being a decent guy to have on an M4 with the M203 and save $1200 for an ACOG ...

Cinc, hail mary question here, have you shot an M249 SAW? Am thinking of the 308 version (Mk 48?), but of course shooting both for comparison is virtually impossible for me, was wondering if you have any input. Am curious about recoil management. Never shot one, or even been with a fire team that h...
