Oh I'm not second guessing our great Chinese future relation with the "Global South"
Such progress. I can't comprehend such relations!

Re: The Netherlands
That new world order I keep hearing about is looking an awful lot like the current one.
Just that this time, we have Chinamen caning Africans to work the mines harder and a group of people on a suicidal mission to start WWIII to prove their importance.

Re: Computer Games
We are a quarter of the way through Red Dead Redemption 1. Okay, it's pretty great despite its age and mechanical issues. There is very little difference between this and 2. It's all one piece. Coming at it from playing 2 first, we are still leaning slightly into the 2 camp as being the better one. ...

Re: Computer Games
I still like the idea of Void Bastards if not the execution. Just read that it was an Australian/Canadian company, but its not immediately popping up how big Blue Manchu (the developer) is. Reading an interview with a designer gives me the impression that a lot of time was spent working on or imagin...

Still hacking away, thankful.
Talking to someone about the beats thing though, the wells are running dry.
The future of popular music belongs to a type of librettist.

I did something alright.
Right now, the market has bottomed out for beats. The bar of the entry is low and, if anyone is following, rap & hip hop are in a financial decline.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GN4T_uTWgAAHx2h?format=jpg&name=small Is the Toyota Hilux utility vehicle available for purchase in the US? My understanding is that it isn't. There is a 25% import tax on light trucks and I'm sure environmental regulations which keep the Toyota Truck (as I've heard ...

Re: On conservative and libertarian stupidity
So much of "protect the children from capital" is "protect capital from the responsibility of children" and a nice way for the middle class to wash its hands of the responsibility. Or maybe its better to make it, to clear their own bad conscientious. excellent point. yes their a...

Re: On conservative and libertarian stupidity
This is taken from the middle of a ponderous substack essay found here . The essay is what it is but this bit sticks with me, especially in regards to a need for control. The bolded bits are my doing. But I don't include the imaged article under discussion, as found on the substack- so if you are in...

Re: On conservative and libertarian stupidity
When it comes to kids, God only knows. It's a bellyflop. Kids and devices and then turning into adolescences who know how to weaponize them is frightening. Turning grey just at the thought.

Re: On conservative and libertarian stupidity
The middle class is the conspiracy :) More seriously, I haven't a doubt there is plenty of support with solid reasoning. So much of it is a slow motion car crash in progress: take this technology and those people and this economy and that tendency. There is a sense of inevitability to some of it tha...

Re: On conservative and libertarian stupidity
I am very aware that complaining about who controls a popular tab can come off as petty and yada yada yada. There are plenty of people who are more aligned with me who would become tyrants with that power too. Frankly, I am GLAD any popular post button slows down or doesn't work. These are nightmare...

Re: On conservative and libertarian stupidity
I do think twitter has degraded quite a bit tho. every day my non posting account acquires a couple of porn bot followers the main problem is that the feed having popular and new is now, almost, useless. popular hangs around for days, the same posts, the same people. new is mostly random bots and c...

Which reminds me I forgot to add the hubris of medical doctors to the maelstrom.
