Re: Obama goes totalitarian

Yes, manolo, you may not follow politics so I thought I would provide the information for you. George Bush signed a law that expired. Obama signed it into law after it expired. So Obama did sign the Patriot Act into law as you said. Just go ahead and read the previous link I posted. Thanks. So what...

Re: Was Trotsky right?

Socialist countries are going bankrupt around the world. Socialism fails in every category. Do you follow the news? Did Trotsky describe why some countries develop (c-p-t-l-sm)? Mr P, My point is that every Western democracy is insinuated with socialism. The US is no exception with a host of social...

Re: Obama goes totalitarian

I think you've slipped all the way in the water E. Obama did sign the Patriot Act. And supported it fully as a Senator. It is as much his law as Bush's. Regards. Hi Mr P, This is one of those forum picks that we all love so much. :) Question: Who "signed the Patriot Act into law"? Answer:...

Re: Returning after some years

Folks,

I would like to keep the screen name 'manolo' as I had a good friend in the Canary Islands called Manolo. Other guys I met over there were Segundo and Monasterios. The Spanish naming customs can seem quite heavy.

Was Trotsky right?

Folks, Trotsky believed that socialism will not succeed in undeveloped countries because of the problem of substitution. He warned that the party will substitute itself for the people, then an individual will substitute for the party, and we end up with dictatorship. In a country without strong diss...

Re: Understanding the right wing Christian

Several times on this forum I have asked those who use the terms "left" and "right" to define them, if anyone replied, I missed it... I would say the left is socially aware, solidary and anthropologically optimistic... The right is individualistic, self-centered and anthropologi...

Mr. Perfect wrote: Actually I think the best thing we can do to respect their memory is to stop SS/Gestapo tactics where ever they arise. They are rising now.
Mr P,

I think Obama should never have signed the Patriot Act into law.

Re: Why did Mitt Romney lose?

Alex, Interesting to know why you "fascinated" by Mitt Romney ? ? ? :) . Heracleum, Where to start? Well, first off he was obviously disliked by most of the GOP and they had been disliking him for a very long time. So there is tension. Then there was the mixed messages and gafs, and the c...

Re: Understanding the right wing Christian

Of all the billions of people in the world what is the fascination with the right wing Christian, particularly when they exercise no power in the US nationally or internationally at all. Mr P, I think the fascination with the RWC is expressed in the OP. Do they have "no power"? Some say t...

Understanding the right wing Christian

Folks, For a long time I have been trying to understand the right wing Christian mind, and would like to have some input into the question of what makes right wing Christians tick. There seems to be three separate strands to the right wing Christian view: social, economic and spiritual, but they may...

That sane people would stand united and see the effort through. There weren't enough sane people it turns out. I think we all know though that this is part of why you voted for Obama. He just sort of has been unveiling it in and awfully embarrassing manner. Mr P, Mission Accomplished http://www.goo...

Returning after some years

Hi folks, It doesn't happen often, but sometimes we like to retrace a few steps in life. I'm ethinker and returned to a familiar forum recently to find some old faces discussing familiar topics. I've been kindly directed here to find some more old friends and debating combatants. :) The name of this...
