Re: Obama and More Harvard Democrat banker horse$#!t

Harvard Democrat banker Jack Lew now Obama's chief of staff. Yet Republican philosophy is to blame for subprime mortgages and fleabaggers silent as Obama anoints yet another of the 1% to lord over us all. Pure morally bankrupt Kafka. http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/new-chief-staff-former-hedge-...

Re: America wants freedom. America wants Ron Paul

Still a contest between RP and Obama would make for an atypically interesting POTUS campaign. It would be even more interesting if RP was actually elected POTUS. I would rejoice! He is so much more human than the rest too. http://www.premiumorange.com/cataloguescitroen/photos%20du%20site/tintin.jpg

Re: Obama tees up war with China

The USA, as any country, wants its daily needs be met. The USA drinks a lot of oil.. so naturally it wants to be sure the supply is guaranteed. This is not some moral abstraction or fairy tale about a power hungry madman.. but about Americans, their families that want to continue the life they are u...

Re: Gloom, Doom, or Boom? Finance and Economics

But how big is the gold bubble? Has enough money moved to gold in the last 3 years to really matter? And why would the popping of that bubble require hyper-inflationary levels of public spending? In the 1933 recession-depression there was a spike of deflation (as a result of too much debt poisening...

Re: Gloom, Doom, or Boom? Finance and Economics

As for why no (hyper)inflation yet, if the Austrians are correct. Just a speculative thought: This huge debt world wide and the way those trillions of printed money are kept afloat artificially (without doing much for real economic recovery) will initially cause sharp deflation. Very low economic ac...

Re: Religion

Who said that God is supposed to be sweet? Christians had to rewrite their books to make him a little less pissed off. Maybe he was and kept giving man a chance until man sent his 'son' packing back to the Heavens. After that the gloves were off. God does not owe us anything. We owe him. And, not e...

Re: On Progressives: Obama vs Paul

Well I'll give you points for the attempt. But the following is the next step in the chain. In America we have thousands of banks. According to Warren Buffett only 4 needed bailing out. The reality is when you have a government project the magnitude of what the Democrats were creating, somebody is ...

Well, I think Kant was 'useful', particularly in showing the knots one ties themselves into trying to explain extensions by starting with the brain. No knot to me. Just a scientific fact one occasionally needs to take into account during certain philosophical discussions. ;) You become too passive....

Re: On Progressives: Obama vs Paul

Parodite, no offense but I think you don't really grasp a lot of what happened in this case. In 2008 we bailed out 9 (?) banks in America, out of thousands, because their portfolios relating to subprime mortgages were going to default to the point that they would go bankrupt and become insolvent. T...

Re: The End of the Electoral College

It depends. A GOP President would never have done health care or half the stimulative stuff done by Obama, and probably not T&A/TSA and most of the other Obama constitution subversions. We would likely have pulled out of Iraq sooner with a GOP President. So depends on what you are looking for. ...

Re: On Progressives: Obama vs Paul

parodite, you shouldn't have gone to all the trouble. If the problem was "banks not regulating themselves", or whatever terminology you care to employ, then why were the failures in loans confined to one type of loan, that is subprime? Why did not loans fail in general, since in general t...

Re: On Progressives: Obama vs Paul

First off: if the subprime credit market were the only sick baby, what is the rest of the world so worried about now? Ask them, it is not my problem. As for the US it is more to do with our national debt, which has little to do with the subprime market. As I understand it, the non-regulations allow...

Re: On Progressives: Obama vs Paul

They didn't decide to deregulate. They decided to build the subprime mortgage market. That is not deregulation. That is activist regulation. If a regulator does it, it is regulation. The UK can do whatever they want I don't particularly care. P, you will note the only credit market to fail was the ...

Re: On Progressives: Obama vs Paul

I'm sorry P, you simply don't have the foggiest idea what you are talking about. The regulators approved and encouraged everything that happened, therefore deregulation has less than nothing to do with it. Had there been more regulators, or more powerful regulators the problem would have been worse...

Re: On Progressives: Obama vs Paul

The Democrats caused the financial crisis, I don't agree. A number of them, and many others, many many others included millions of ordinary citizens were given the opportunity and seduced to do very stupid and detrimental things once the financial market was deregulated and going out of control. It...

It isn't that simple, Azari. In Exodus God proclaims different types of laws. The ten commandments are how we are to honor God and are completely non-negotiable. But a bit later in Exodus, God gives a rather disorganized bunch of laws designed to aid the peaceful cohesiveness of the community. Thes...
