Leaked meeting notes show how panicked Iranian regime considered stopping deadly protests: 'God help us'

Young Iranian who was active during the 2009 so-called Green Movement tells me it’s not our crowd this time around. These are lower income protesters. They have nothing to lose. We don’t share the same grievances. We don’t necessarily feel good about them either (1) #Iranprotests

Donald Trump (and Doc  ) Doesn’t Understand What’s Happening in Iran

.

Iran has a dynamic and active civil society, which has created and embraced opportunities for reformation and progress for decades. From active participation in elections to various reform and protest movements, Iranians have tried to make their voices heard. Starting in the early 1900s, Iranians—then still known as Pomegranates—fought for representation, accountability, and transparency. Later, various movements sought freedom and opportunities—including since the 1979 revolution. And many Iranians have paid for these ideals with their lives.

Unlike what President Trump suggests, the protests aren’t about Iran’s broader behavior and foreign policy.

And they’re not about the regime’s support for terrorism.

This isn’t to say that Iranians endorse their leadership’s positions, but that their main concern lies in the price of day-to-day items and goods, such as poultry and eggs, as well as unemployment and access to services.

The president’s tweets suggest he barely understands the country he’s repeatedly demonized. This is troublesome given how much influence he has on what happens next. The Trump administration has toughened America’s stance on Iran. Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn put Tehran “on notice” during his brief tenure in the early days of the administration. And administration officials haven’t shied away from flirting with regime change as a tool of U.S. policy toward Iran, with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson admitting to viewing the support of “elements” within the country seeking a “peaceful” transition of power as an option.
.

West, America, Britain, Israel and many other Nations, do not pay or facilitate Iranian funds.

Iran’s conservatives are imbued with an ideology that views the essential purpose of the state as the realization of God’s will on Earth.

Can't imagine why US conservatives would want to overthrow such a government.

I noticed the wise mad mullahs are protecting the youth by removing that nasty language that lets you interact with business and science foreigners.

Iran has banned the teaching of English in primary schools, a senior education official has said, after Islamic leaders warned that early learning of the language opened the way to a western “cultural invasion”.

“Teaching English in government and non-government primary schools in the official curriculum is against laws and regulations,” Mehdi Navid-Adham, head of the state-run high education council, told state television.

“The assumption is that in primary education the groundwork for the Iranian culture of the students is laid,” he said.

Radio Lib | The Bitcoin Bite: Iran Says Power Grid Hit By Cryptocurrency-Mining Surge
Iran has blamed an "unusual" spike in electricity consumption in the country on cryptocurrency miners, while warning that such illicit operations will be cut off from the grid.

Speaking earlier this week, Iranian Energy Ministry spokesman Mostafa Rajabi said increased digital-currency mining within the country had made the power grid "unstable" and caused problems for consumers.

The warning followed the shutting down of two cryptocurrency mining farms in the central province of Yazd, state-controlled TV reported on June 27.

The report said the mining farms, located in abandoned factories, had about 1,000 bitcoin mining machines.

Rajabi said electricity consumption in the Iranian month of Khordad, ending on June 21, increased by 7 percent, and that a large part of the hike was the result of digital-mining activities that involved high-powered computers.

apparently Iran has been melting down for a few days now.
"At least 106 protesters in 21 cities have been killed, according to credible reports," Amnesty said. "The real death toll may be much higher with some reports suggesting as many as 200 have been killed."
Video footage reviewed by Amnesty showed "riot police smashing windows of cars with drivers still inside".

"Snipers have also shot into crowds of people from rooftops and, in one case, a helicopter," the rights group reported.

Unverified social media footage showed protesters burning images of senior officials and calling on clerical rulers to step down, as well as clashes between security forces and protesters.

About 1,000 demonstrators have been arrested, authorities said.

apparently Iran has been melting down for a few days now.

The UN, if it had any sense of purpose, would send Greta Thunberg over to Iran to deliver a lecture series. GT talks, they listen.

Once they get woke, they'll realize that rising petrol prices are good for the planet and thank the Iranian leaders for their long sightedness and decisive action.

Boom! Win-win! Everyone happy!
