On Totalitarianism

Post by Typhoon »

Tip of the hat to a friend:

Standpoint | Blood and Lies Behind the Iron Curtain
"By trying to control every aspect of society, the regimes had turned every aspect of society into a potential form of protest."
May the gods preserve and defend me from self-righteous altruists; I can defend myself from my enemies and my friends.

Very good. Thanks for the link.

Gallows humour is one thing that was manufactured in abundance behind the Iron Curtain.

Probably the best analysis that I've read to-date is The Captive Mind by Czesław Miłosz.
