As I didn't know how to link to that particular thread, I copied it and reposted, preserving the name of the original poster. However it showed me, as it must, as the originator. Sorry about that, but it was well meant...

Thank you very much for your explanation, Endovelico.

No problem with me.

I appreciate the effort to salvage the tread.

Thanks for explaining how this happened.

I think forums read better if you can have more posts per page. 25 posts per page is a good number. I can even deal with 50, but some might not be into that.

Good point. Reset to 30 posts per page as an experiment. Poster feedback on the number would be appreciated.

Quite right. Have scaled back to 20 posts per page. Seems to be okay.

Can the buffer settings be manually changed?

I think our scaly breasted chum is referring to slow internet access or low spec hardware at the client end, rather than anything to do with the forum or the rate it is dished out by the hosting server.

Most browsers will let you turn off flash and images, or have plugins that allow you to load such content on demand rather than by default.

Esteemed Typhoon, Ymix & any unknown Admins,

It may be me but it appears I can no longer edit my posts once posted in this and other threads.

Was able to do it previously but the edit button no longer appears.

Am going to log out and sign on again to see if that changes anything.

FWIW

MG

Wow! Didn't have to log out. Just posting the last post did it.

Not sure what made the difference.

FWIW before making the last post, I went to the Diegetics board to make sure that the edit button was missing here...... It was missing.

Still not able to edit posts in current events and American politics.

Am going to see if posting there makes a difference.

Posting in Current Events (Quadaffy's Daughter) does not bring back the edit button.

Am going to try logging out.

Also noticed that only some of my posts in this thread have the edit button.......

Logging out and back on appears to have little or no effect.

Can edit the last post in Current Events: Gadaffy's Daughter, test post.

Can edit some of the posts in this thread: the most recent ones:

First editable post is : viewtopic.php?f=15&t=32#p431

Can not edit any post of mine in American politics.

Hope this testing helps..........

If you would again please try making a new post and see if you have the "Edit" button.

Question: should we set a time limit on editing posts?

Thank you Very Much for your help, Admin.

Will make several posts and report back.
Question: should we set a time limit on editing posts?
IMVHO probably not. I frequently go back to correct typos or tweak a meaning.

Some posters including me like to add an "Edit:" addendum to a post if major changes/apology are needed.

Quotes will often preserve the original without change.
