Folks,

This topic cropped up elsewhere and it might be worth a thread.

I found this link, which intrigued me but some may disagree?

Alex,

A nice illustration of the myth that either party is fiscally responsible, and that both parties can always justify lowering the bar for themselves by comparing their actions to the actions of the party that was previously in office.

Base this year's or this quarter's expenditures on 90% or less of last year's or last quarter's tax revenue and the problem goes away. Lots of individuals have the self-discipline to do it.

But when voters buy into the myth that "the state is the great fiction by which everyone can live at the expense of someone else," voters deem that no sense of responsibility is necessary. "My ideals demand that the guy in the next county, state, tax bracket or generation must pay for my free lunch."

Politicians in representative governments are like popular disk jockeys, they play the tunes the majority request, or they are replaced.

Politicians as causes of culture rather than indicators of culutre always seems to be backward thinking to me.

No "one" to blame but "us."
 :(
Owwch! That hurts!
No "one" to blame but "them" feels much better! 8-) :)

If Reagan and Bush had balanced their budgets obama's debt would still be catastrophic.
