Is anyone else watching the Broncos get whipped by the Patriots? I haven't seen a whipping this bad since I watched the Passion of the Christ.

Tebow has been on this knees a lot tonight -- begging for mercy.

“It’s a miracle,” I said to my wife, only half-joking.

“J Lin” is Jeremy Lin, the undrafted point guard from Harvard who has emerged from seemingly nowhere to become the toast of New York and Asian-Americans everywhere with his surprising star turn for the Knicks.

On Monday, I rushed home from work to find a live stream of the Knicks-Jazz game. (Time Warner, my cable provider, removed the MSG channels because of a dispute over subscriber fees.) Lin turned in another jaw-dropping performance, and did it again Wednesday in Washington. The Lakers game on Friday proved nearly too much for me to handle.

Yes, Linsanity.

But it also represented much more than that, at least to me.

Like Lin, I’m a Harvard graduate, albeit more than a decade ahead of him, and a second-generation Chinese-American. I’m also a fellow believer, one of those every-Sunday-worshiping, try-to-read-the-Bible-and-pray types, who agreed with Lin when he said to reporters after the Jazz game, “God works in mysterious and miraculous ways.”

What a beast. World record at the time (263 kg), since broken.

You know what's wrong with western culture? This Persian can shout "GOD IS GREAT!" and look like a total badass, but when you think of an American shouting it, you think of Ned Flanders from the Simpsons, some wuss in a sweater vest with soft hands and a weak mustache. Our hardcore version would be someone hoisting 600 pounds overhead and shouting "SUCK IT!!"

Amazing finish on sudden death playoff: cool controlled Afrikaner Louis Oosterhuizen fluffs his shot to the back of the green, while crazy emotional good-ole-boy Watson (who had never won a major) plays a blinder of a shot from within the trees onto the green.

It is a truism that German teams always win penalty shoot outs , especially against English teams, who always bottle first. Even more so in Germany, on their home ground ( a venue fixed by UEFA before the finalists were known). Not last night as Chelsea beat Bayern Munich to win the Champion's League for the first time.

(mark you, there are not many Englishmen in the Chelsea team, and England fullback Owen Hargreaves plays for Bayern)

Chelsea really rode their luck from the quarter finals onwards: Napoli, Barcelona and Bayern should all have beaten them on the run of play, but failed to convert their chances.

Billionaire oligarch owner of "Chelski", Roman Abramovich has spent over a $1bn on this quest - and UEFA, sensibly, will soon limit how much can be spent by any one club. Yes of course it should have been better spent on alleviating poverty in his native Russia, but it has provided more entertainment than the shenanigans of the likes of Goldman Sachs in the STPN saga.

Pity Greece was defeated by Germany, or we would have had a PIGS semi-finals on Euro 2012...

Do you suppose the match lived up to this buildup, or was it pure anticlimax?
