Apparently it is not too early for the speculations to start . . .

A friend of mine really wants Governor Martin O'Malley from Maryland, former Mayor of Baltimore, and inspiration for Tommy Carcetti from 'The Wire', to run for President.

The nation of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian is not going to elect a haggard, shrill 69-year-old woman. Right or wrong, they're just not.

Nearly a decade since I first saw that show, and I still can't figure out if that should be an endorsement or not.

Honestly I used to think this but nowadays I wouldn't rule it out. And it's irrelevant anyway.

Clinton vs. Christie would be the most interesting. I doubt the GOP is dumb enough to retreated loser/embarrassment Ryan again, and Rubio seems to have baggage. I can't think of any other Democrats who really have a shot.

Also, (vomiting emoticon) that this is already begun.

Kirsten Gillibrand, Andrew Cuomo, Martin O'Malley, Mark Warner -- plenty of options.

It's part of our system. It's a lot of work to prepare for 50 primaries/caucuses.

Speaking of elections . . . during the next Canadian Parliamentary election, do you think Justin Trudeau (or whomever becomes leader of the Liberals) has a good shot, or are the Conservatives will bury them again? Will Thomas Mulcair be a factor?

Martinez would be a good choice for a running-mate, most likely better than Rubio.

Speaking of elections, don't you have one coming up? Who do you think you'll vote for? I would imagine that you aren't all that enthusiastic.

If Hillary runs, then the election automatically defaults to a Republican win. There are significant segments of the Democratic and leftwing base that do not want anything to do with her, and will most likely nominate their own alternative left candidate should she win the Dem primaries.

This will never happen, ever. Clinton could lose by the usual %50-%49 but no party is splitting apart, certainly not over somebody as vanilla is Clinton. Obama sold out to Wall Street and kept most of the Bush-era war piggery going, and everybody still lined up to rout the hated other team.

 Hillary is probably the most popular politician in America now.

Show me a poll of anybody beating her.

And show me a poll of how many Democratic voters who would be willing to throw the election to the Republicans to spite her.

You're desperate and delusional.

Hillary will win. She has paid her dues. The low information crowd will be thrilled by the fairy tale America story of electing a woman after electing a black guy. And Hill is the real deal. Obama is a trickster in comparison, a Jar Jar to Hillary's Palpatine.

Thankfully, the nation of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian doesn't vote unless it involves texting in their favorite ass clown on American Idol.

We should start writing down everything our Republican friends say from now on. They could be right but odds are they'll be wrong. If we begin now, we can amass years of material to bludgeon them over the head with in post-2016 political debates ;)

It is hard to say 2 years out, but The NDP will likely lose seats, in Quebec and the Maritimes, but to the Liberals, who will recover somewhat from their low point. The Conservatives will probably lose a few seats to the Liberals as well, in Ontario (Greater Toronto Area suburbia) and the Maritimes. Conservatives will probably slip back into a minority government, though a strong minority overall, although they stand to benefit from new redistricting / seat re-apportioning that favors areas where they are strong like Alberta and the GTA suburbs. They'll gain some seats some places but lose probably more with a fall in the NDP giving less left-wing vote splitting than last time. They might take back a few in Quebec in the Quebec City and environs area as well without the "Orange Wave" anomaly of the last election. Stephen Harper might take a fall back to minority territory as a good time to step down from leadership after a good decade as PM.

Now that the NDP have cracked the mainstream they and the Liberals will split the left wing vote, and the Conservatives will win riding after riding, but with less than the combined votes of the Liberal and NDP candidates. The Liberals did this to the right wing for over a decade starting in the 90's, back when the old Conservative party and the far-right Reform party split the right wing vote. Now the right wingers are going to return the favor.

Unless Harper hits that strange, unspoken hard-count that every Canadian politician seems to run into, where voters suddenly decide that they can't stand you for one more second and you never win again. Historically about 10-12 years in Canadian politics.

She will crush the female demographic. Just crush it. As interesting as various matchups would be as campaign theater, at the end of the day how do you beat that?

Oh, and I'm going to get assemble a committee to determine whether the Jar Jar comparison is racist, and submit their findings to a Human Rights Tribunal.

Thank You Very Much for your post, DOU.

I suspect you may be correct......

IMO Another factor in the Siren Call of the the Clintons is nostalgia for the relatively good economic times under Billary........

IMO largely luck but luck is VERY important.........

And in this case economic luck trumps battle luck......*

So despite foul ups like Black Hawk Down, Not taking the Shot on Bin Ladin, and similar fiascos......

And transferring missile tech to the Chinese Dragons.........

Billary is likely to have a 3rd term

Probably also because even that the scandals were more fun.......

A randy handsome President getting a Monica ;) from Lewinsky  in the Oval Office instead what we have had since........

Wonder what it will be like if the First First Gentleman ;) has an affair behind the First Female President's back.........

Doubt that the enthusiasm would be as high for Hilary by herself but as they have said, they are a Twofer

*Also Weather Luck and Media Luck...... No Katrinas or even Sandys
