Not sure how this falls under the "US Foreign policy"

The opposition left is saying that if they win everyone will be limited to taking $3000 Reals out of their bank accounts per month. Saying that everyone should live on the same amount of money. Which is about $700 per month.

BBC | Right-wing candidate wins Brazilian presidential electionl

A rather stark division in voting patterns between the northeast states and the rest of the country.

Hardly surprising. Drinking and parties are the main occupation of a large portion of the population. I know someone that worked on the national branch manager help desk for one of the largest banks in Brazil. She told me one day she was talking to a branch manager in Fortaleza in the NE. While she was talking to him he asked her "Do you know what just happened here?" She said "no" He told her" All the employees in the Bank here just walked out to follow a beer truck playing music down the street I am the only person left"

Something like this but a beer truck actually driving down the street and not nearly so large and so loud with people dancing after:

Looks like Bolsonaro is starting out very on-brand.

Hours after taking office, Brazil’s new president, Jair Bolsonaro, has launched an assault on environmental and Amazon protections with an executive order transferring the regulation and creation of new indigenous reserves to the agriculture ministry – which is controlled by the powerful agribusiness lobby.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/ ... rotections

Newly installed President Jair Bolsonaro targeted Brazil's indigenous groups, descendants of slaves and the LGBT community with executive orders in the first hours of his administration, moving quickly after a campaign in which the far-right leader said he would radically overhaul many aspects of life in Latin America's largest nation.

Finally, Brazil can focus on its most pressing issues, like destroying the Amazon and brutalizing gays and minorities.

"far-right leader" Why not "penultimate-extreme far right conservative"? You know like the MSM in the US used to call republicans? Is the MSM going soft or what?

The election in Brasil from Sunday's election was 47% to 43% with a run off between Lula and Bolsonaro at the end of the month. One poll recently showed Bolsonaro with 28% support. The election commissioner of Brazil said that those conducting such polls would be held accountable for illegally trying to sway the election.

So why is this ok in the US?

Quite the election choice.

Anyways, recent reports suggest Bolsanario said "It's over" with regards to the recent election.

Honestly I have been keeping tabs on reports directly from Brazil. He never conceded. Even though MSM outlets like AP have said he did it seems to be fake news that he did that.
If you look at the reports
Jair Bolsonaro has reportedly thrown in the towel after his presidential election defeat in Brazil on Sunday, telling members of the supreme court: “It’s over.”
Interesting that this comes from the supreme court as 7 of the 11 members of the court are Lula/Dilma appointees and have been running interference for Lula and threw out Lula's conviction. On the other hand the supreme court is threatening to put Bolsonaro on trial over the highway protests. Federal Politicians in Brazil can only be tried by that very same supreme court.

The protests are pretty large. Lula had crowds of a few hundred while Bolsanaro had crowds of 10's of thousands. Almost all of Lula's support is in the north of Brazil. South Brazil voted for Bolsonaro.

There were polls from a month or two ago that claimed Bolosonaro only had 23% support. Apparently Bolsonaro's opposition is pushing really hard to put the election behind them.

There is a lot of opposition outrage I do not think it is going away any time soon.

Youtube has also shut down Pro Bolsonaro accounts in Brazil and left up pro Lula accounts. Lula has not been appearing in public or on TV Letting the Chief justice of the supreme court to do his dirty work.

Report: Brazil Court Closes Pro-Bolsonaro Telegram and WhatsApp Chats

Multiple newspapers in Brazil reported on Friday that the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE), the nation’s top election authority, had spent much of the week working to dismantle conservative chat groups on Whatsapp and Telegram in an attempt to “demobilize”Protests and roadblocks across the country are massive.

Tens of thousands of conservatives in nearly every major city of Brazil have taken to the streets this week to protest the results of Sunday’s presidential election, in which convicted criminal Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva defeated incumbent conservative President Jair Bolsonaro by about two million votes. Lula, a hardline socialist who served as president between 2003 and 2011, received 50.9 percent of the vote to Bolsonaro’s 49.1 percent.

Bolsonaro supporters are demanding a constitutional “federal intervention”Lula is not allowed to take over. Others have gathered outside military headquarters, Brasilia’s top military office, to demand a coup.

The “federal intervention”Supporters argue that Lula, a convicted felon should not have been legally allowed to vote. After multiple appeals, Lula was sentenced in 2017 to 20 years imprisonment for taking bribes during his presidency. Last year, the Supreme Federal Tribunal (STF), the nation’s top court, overturned the condition on procedural grounds, failing to exonerate Lula with any new evidence showing he did not commit the crimes in question. Opponents claim that Lula was not a valid presidential candidate, as no one challenged Lula’s evidence.

Brazilian Constitution provides for a “federal intervention”In rare cases of crisis, supporters argue that this fits the current circumstances. According to Bolsonaro’s chief of staff, Bolsonaro has not indicated that he is open to such intervention. However, he has started the formal presidential transition process.

Bolsonaro supporters also launched hundreds of roadblockades, causing fear of disruptions in supply chains and blocking emergency vehicles. Bolsonaro himself has sent two messages to supporters this week asking them not block roads.

“The current popular movements are the fruit of indignation and a feeling of injustice about how the electoral process went about,”Bolsonaro spoke briefly to reporters Tuesday. “Peaceful protests will always be welcome, but our methods cannot be those of the left.”

“Protests, marches are very welcome, they are part of the democratic game and, throughout the years, Brazil has done much of this,”Bolsonaro posted a video to Twitter on Thursday, after his request for help was not granted. “But this is something that is not ok: the closing of highways in Brazil hurts the right of people to come and go. It is there in our constitution, and we have always been within those four lines [within the rules].”

Based on O GloboTSE, an organization led by supreme Court justice and anti-“fake news”Alexandre de Moraes a crusader began to move on Tuesday in order to shut down pro-Bolsonaro chats groups on Whatsapp, Telegram and Telegram. This was to reduce the power of conservatives to create roadblocks or protests. This is the largest group that was taken down. O GloboTelegram chat entitled “Super Grupo B-38 Oficial,”It had 59,000 users at its time.

“When trying to access [censored groups], Telegram displays the message, ‘This community was blocked in Brazil by decision of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE)’ or ‘This group cannot be displayed because it violated local laws,’”This newspaper has been documented.

The Brazilian news service Agência Pública documented the takedown of several other groups on Telegram run by evangelical leader Jackson Villar as of Tuesday. According to reports, two of these groups had more users than the other. According to reports, De Moraes personally approved the censorship of communications channels.

Telegram and Whatsapp both are very popular messaging programs in Brazil. Bolsonaro’s supporters grew more fond of Telegram. O GloboIt didn’t have any limit to the number of people who could join a chat group. Brazil’s Whatsapp allows for up to 257 users in a single group.

“Therefore, there are gigantic groups [on Telegram] that exceed the population of 70 percent of Brazilian municipalities,” O Globo Noted.

Telegram is under censorship O GloboBolsonaro supporters claim that this has led them to return to 1990s messaging software ICQ. It is still in use today.

“There are already pro-Bolsonaro channels [on ICQ] with about 2,000 followers, but camouflaged, without the president’s name – such as ‘Avengers Brasil,’ in reference to the saga The Avengers, from Marvel,”The newspaper reported.

UOL provided a glimpse into one pro Bolsonaro Whatsapp channel. This revealed how the group was primarily used to arrange messaging for protests and focus on legal and peaceful messaging. UOL tried to portray the group as titled “Civil Resistance #15,”As an unhinged conspiracies, it recorded calls for peace as well as constitutional demands. For example, one message suggested that slogans or messaging could be used to create signs. “federal intervention [as opposed to military], civil resistance, march of the families, the power emanates from the people, no censorship!, [and] STF get out.”

A user sent a message that read, “Patriots, the time has come to face the corruption of the system and reconquer it directly. May it be in a peaceful and orderly way, but firm and with conviction, because, beloved fatherland, your children will not flee the struggle.”

TSE failed to take down chat groups where socialists were flooding them with pro-Lula memes. UOL documented one instance in which a user uploaded 50 pro-Lula photos to a conservative Whatsapp group within just two minutes.

According to federal transit police, trucker blocksades that at one time numbered in excess of 100 are not a major obstacle. As far as Friday morning, there were no highways blocked. Five states reported some form of roadblock – Amazonas, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, and Rondônia – but not any significant disturbance in the public’s ability to travel. By the end of this week, police had cleared nearly 1,000 roadblocks.
