Wiesenthal and Zenophobia

Folks,

In his book and memoir ‘Justice not Vengeance’ (1) Simon Wiesenthal writes of the always contemporary dangers of zenophobia. He speaks of the “stirring up of hatred”.

' The principle ingredient of such agitation continues to be hatred of foreigners: wherever Neo- fascists appear, whether in England, France, Austria or the USA - they call on the majority to resist 'swamping by foreigners’. Swamping by coloured people from the British colonies, swamping by coloured people from France’s former colonies, swamping by Yugoslav or Turkish guest workers, swamping by Mexicans or Puerto Ricans. True the Jews are not mentioned at the top of the list in these pamphlets - but two thousand years have proved that they are always the first to be done to death’. (1) p 417.

I would not presume to add comment to Wiesenthal’s words here, just to agree with him with all the humility and empathy I can muster. What else is there for us to say?

For American Indians/Native Americans: Walk Like a Tlaxcalan and make friends with the invaders if they are honorable like Cortez & the Spanish Crown & you are strong and clever enough to make yourself useful...... What else is there for us to say?

That sometimes, though not always, xenophobia/skepticism about the intentions of strangers is a rational reaction**.....

When one is dealing with Depraved Sinful Egotistical Chaos Monkey humans with selfish genes who are less trustworthy than dogs.....

That sometimes the invaders/immigrants are out to conquer, convert or otherwise exploit or even kill you.....

For example.......

If you are a Briton , don't count on King Arthur saving you........

From the Danes & Saxons etc......

Your descendants, if you have any, are likely to end up speaking a bastard mix of Low German & Viking Latin French......

Instead of your native language which is/was somewhat like Irish.....


And certainly Don't count on King Arthur returning to keep London from becoming Londinistan in Eurabia......

Have your grandchildren start learning Arabic...

Unless you get the right Angle * .........
