This map reminded me that I once knew someone whose native language was Friulan. Interesting to see which part of Italy it is from.

Very interesting. Here's a bilingual (Italian/Friulian) road sign from near San Vito al Torre:

Saw a wall map of NSW from the 1940's for sale today. Don't have the wall space to put it up, though..........

I think it's time to reiterate www.censusviewer.com

If you want to generate your own demographic maps based on US Census data, this is the app for you.

What software did they use to create that data visualization? That's really cool.

Enki,

I don't know. I know there is an extensive database that is linked to this project.

I initially found this in an old-fashioned book. The atlas itself contains dozens of other maps not available online. The detail is astonishing and quite apart from the pages and pages of outstanding maps of the transatlantic trade, includes some good maps which shows the location of various ethnic groups within Africa, and it's interesting to note the evolution of events there as well.

This map was created by Massimo Pietrobon and shows the countries of the world as they were thought to look in prehistoric times. This single, big continent was called Pangaea.
