Cosmetic surgery on the NHS

Tea is nought but this: first you heat the water, then you make the tea. Then you drink it properly.

Cosmetic surgery on the NHS

Post by manolo »

Folks,

My hospital consultant has offered me cosmetic surgery on the NHS.

Now that my fractured hand has healed, my little finger is slightly curved. It doesn’t affect use of the hand but looks a bit odd. He says that if I am unhappy with it I can see him in a few months (once the injured hand is fully settled down) and he will re-break the finger and put in a little plate and pins to make it straight. It sounds like a fiddly job, but it’s on offer if I want it.

It struck me that this is mainly about appearance and maybe convenience. But I am not a pretty young girl; I’m a 65 year old man. With all the griping about the NHS these days, especially about care for older folk, it is a delight that my consultant has time and expertise to devote to my pinky.

Well done, NHS!

Alex.

Thank You Very Much for your post, Alex.........

WOW! Seems you are one lucky dude.....

Getting such excellent care and even being offered cosmetic surgery that is not necessary ........

While per your fellow Socialist ;) Endovelico, your doctors and other health care professionals are DESPERATELY needed in elsewhere in Britain's Health Care System where 1000's are dying for lack of proper care.....
1000s of patients died in UK of poor care

Thousands of patients in Britain have died in a seven-year period due to poor treatment they received from the country’s health system, a new study shows..............

My understanding is that the problem is even worse....... more general and bureaucratic........

But glad you lucked out..........

monster,

I wasn't so lucky having the accident but my treatment has been brilliant. At the moment I'm still having weekly physiotherapy on the NHS, and it's working.

The most impressive thing was the rescue helicopter, followed by the immediate xrays and catscan in the head injury unit. The helicopter was with me within 20 minutes of the accident, not that I remember much about that. Later I was referred to the fracture clinic and regular dressing of the wounds, antibiotics, follow up with my GP......

Honestly can't imagine what this lot would have cost if I was living in a less fortunate part of the world. But the great news is that my debit/credit cards remained where they should be - in my pocket. :)

Alex.

PS - Food was pretty good too.

Mr P,

It's looking good. Out on the new GSXR today and no pain in the hand or wrist after 30 fast miles. The clutch was easy and it is my left hand with the fracture so I guess it's game over. :)

Thank you, NHS.

Alex.

PS - A guy in the bike shop suggested that I tattoo 'Kawasaki' on the fractured finger and that sounds like a good plan. I had fancied my social security number somewhere, but I like the 'Kawasaki' idea.

Glad you are better, Alex. Be careful. I have seen a lot of people messed up pretty bad on bikes often due to no fault of their own.

Thanks kmich. My family feel the same way.

Alex.

PS - OTOH just being 65 is dangerous, even if you stay in bed.

Statistics say your country is going bankrupt. You can't blame tax cuts for the rich or defense spending.

Mr P,

Why would I blame anyone for my top notch health care?
