Civil Unrest in SimpleMindedStan

Post by Simple Minded »

I never thought it could happen in SimpleMindedStan......

Saturday, while out on one of our weekly strolls in the great outdoors, suddenly, before we knew what was happening, my wife was surrounded by a pack of unruly DLM "Peaceful" Protestors.

Demands were numerous, and somewhat confusing. The little one with the curly white fur was vocalizing in some weird mixture of whining and howling. I think he might have been speaking Romanian.

Luckily my wife is a skilled negotiator, and was wearing an apron filled with kibble and hot dog bits.

After some initial virtue signaling, faux growling, hackle raising, ground scratching, and butt sniffing, everybody settled down and got along fine.

I'm pretty opened minded, but I don't mind saying it, those DLM protestors are ANIMALS!

Notice the genuine SASQUATCH WATCH OF VIRGINA sweatshirt. Even more intimidating than a gang tattoo when confronting potential adversaries in the wilderness!

"Screw with me Bitches, and Bigfoot will be along shortly to settle scores!"

Luckily I can confirm, after consulting local sources, that the white one was NOT, in fact, speaking Romanian.

I concede to your expertise.

"He" was probably not speaking Romanian. Perhaps "she" was just in heat?

In any event, all parties are happy now. Negotiations resulted in scheduled DLM uprisings at least once per week until the supply of kibble and hotdogs run dry.

the creation of noddystan is taking some time - i have a rental in the forest but a permenant property is currently difficult because our real estate market is going crazy as we are one of the few places in the world without covid .

the only way past the border lock is being a property owner, so anyone that can buy here, currently is.

Tell me more about forest rental.

there's probably a great market for "QUARANTINED! LOCAL COVID-19 HOTSPOT!" signs. or maybe even an automatic signal broadcast to all cell phones in a couple mile radius.....

the new laws are that if the forest is big enough to contain yowies, you are responsible for the maintenance of that forest.

also, you are not allowed to clear fores,t yet you are also not allowed to build within 30 metres of it, or face 150k of fireproofing on your house.

I currently have steam coming out of my ears, and am feeling obsessed with my guns. I am afraid I may have MSM-19.

Maybe I should turn off all electronic devices for 15 days to stem the steam :D

no promises on how long it will take or how often the definition of insurgent needs to change to keep up with conditions on the ground.

The lid lock on the washing machine is kaput.

Unable to lock, the machine is useless. It will not operate beyond spraying a piddle each time it tries to lock, before giving up on itself.

This may be the worst safety feature I've ever encountered. :)

Hah! My first thought was how impressive the whole thing was engineered to collapse.

It doesn't seem too difficult to repair myself. Initially thought of bypassing it, but it seems easier to just order a replacement part and plug it it.

I was listening to the Rush Limbaugh show today for a little while. There was a guest host that made an interesting point. Demonstrating that Global Warming is only active in the United States and probably only in Democrat controlled States. So I have to ask Noddy ...DO you have democrats running things in your forest?

I met a one-armed guy who sold these cool little brass and stainless hammers. The handle was a set of at least a half-dozen nested screwdrivers. Everyone who saw him disassemble and reassemble all those screwdrivers with his only arm while gripping the parts in his stump bought one.

He lost his arm in a washing machine. He reached in before it stopped and got caught in the clothing and it twisted his arm for several rotations. Radial fractures everywhere and it had to be amputated.

So, a good safety feature.

no, its bi partisan socialism.

i pay 3k a year to a council that thinks up new rules and regulations about what im allowed to do to my property and what measures i must take to make it less of a fire risk.

i will then get fined and eventually lose that land if i dont comply.

Our Socialists are called Democrats and they are bi-polar rather than bi-partisan.

I know a guy here that bought an old building single floor 100 feet on the side Just one big, mostly empty room that has an occupancy of about 40 people, with several large exits. The city made him install a hugely expensive(many 10's of thousands of dollars if not 100,000) sprinkler system in case of fire.

Easily fixed if a hardware problem, find the wires goes to the water level sensor and cut them, and re-start. If that doesn't work, twist them together and re-start.

If a software problem, it falls more into the BLM catagory, could take generations of re-education to fix. I'll bet it's a WHITE washing machine! Isn't it?

Personally the fact that Trump found out about your washing machine and decided to target you specifically, horrifies me!

Probably a safety feature created by one of your people who broke their arm using their washing machine to mix Martinis. You should be more appreciate of those who really care about you!

are you serious about those regulations? did you mean that if you build within 30 meters (your spell check ain't working right) of the forest, you have to have $150k of fire insurance? if so, it sounds like out of control forest fires are part of their plan.

it is ALWAYS entertaining as Hell to call family members back in NY and discuss land use regulations, or real estate taxes. hopefully I won't live long enough to see that happen locally.

Serious question - could you get around the regs if you claim you are part Aborigine or if what you are doing is part of your religious beliefs/worships?

based on growing up in NY, I checked into regs before buying land. luckily, VA'ers and NY'ers don't speak the same language.

up to 150ks worth of fire mitigation changes to your house - insurance is a seperate issue and between you and your vampire squid.

varies from 10-20k of metal plates and ember protection in your roof, through to having your own gravity fed water tank system that will power sprinklers for 12 hours under all conditions, fire proof cellars etc.

all these rules apply to new houses, so if you do want the quiet in the forest life you need to find an old cottage built before the rules came in, which is getting rarer.

then all you need to do is maintain truck sized roads all around your property and hire the local volunteer firefighters to burn off the litter layer every 5 to 10 years.

all these rules are why my state, which is one of the most fire prone places on earth - eucalypt forests and sustained 100F summers (40c) doesnt have many fires.

all the constant litter burning is sterilizing the forest, we are sending many small critters and flowers extinct - the nuances between a cold (ish) fire on a wet day that slowly burns the leaf litter away and a hot fire that quickly burns it away are not particularly relevant to people protecting their property.

aslong as its not hot enough to create a crown fire that causes the eucalypt canopy to vaporize oils and explode, thats the thing that causes the mega unstoppable fires.

while i believe anyone can claim to identify as an aboriginal, for those kinds of rules, other aboriginals must include you in their identities aswell.

a tribe of one has dubious amounts of heritage to maintain, though having said that, the victorian tribes are close to that.

i do believe the northern aboriginals are fully in control of their own land on these levels and dont have to play by middle class rules
