Yes, people join corporate collectives of their own volition all the time. Churches are second. Then there are clubs and societies. Beyond that, basically nothing.
You never see people handing over their own money for others to distribute. That basically never happens. Almost nobody joins them. Corporations, everybody loves them, and for good reason.
So if you have come to love the corporation as I have, welcome aboard. The benefits of corporate personhood are available to you for you to enjoy. I expect you to become a great warrior for corporate personhood.

Co ops are big in farming.
The Hanseatic League was a successful co op. The NFL is.

Re: Designing a Cooperative
as tinker mentioned small coops are extremely common in the coding/design new tech world... couldnt really care if they have failed in other industries because they have been working for me for quite some time now.
once you have a pool of people with different skills then its just a matter of grabbing the right folks for each project and coming to an agreement on how the profits are split, done.

the heart of the matter is how you deal with the fear of change and how much you trust your socialist safety nets.. its easy to laugh at the americans with the stashes of beans and ammo but .....
maybe its the word "free market" that confuses people.. maybe it should be a more left friendly word like "fair market"
Yeah. To have a free market, you'd have to get rid of countries.
But if a free market is to be preferred over "socialist safety nets", why shouldn't it be preferred, in principle, over the existing political infrastructure entirely?

^^This is the standard mode for the freelance software developer. It is not the exception, it is the rule.noddy wrote:as tinker mentioned small coops are extremely common in the coding/design new tech world... couldnt really care if they have failed in other industries because they have been working for me for quite some time now.

Men often oppose a thing merely because they have had no agency in planning it, or because it may have been planned by those whom they dislike.

Re: Designing a Cooperative
im not against safety nets in principle, im against them in the reality of me giving 75-85 percent of my income in taxes, licenses, fees of both direct and indirect forms and then ending up on the street if i lose my job.Farcus wrote:noddy wrote:

i dont see safety net i see a parasite class of self important twats voting themselves better lifestyles out of my income and pontificating on more rules to play games with my life for my own good and the modern world feels more like a catholic primary school than a free world of adults.
or something like that.
ill believe in safety nets when more than half of my tax dollar goes towards providing them - until then its just lies and im not scared of it going away because it barely exists anyway for most of the poor in my personal world...
a few of them get basic survival money after they qualified but its nothing against the amount of money that goes into the beast, from memory about 30% of the government budget is social security and of that about 30% makes its way out as payments.. the rest is all garunteed middle class conditions for those who are church members, ermm, government staff, bankers or unionised corporates
i do prefer it when people who want an oppressive authoritarian parent figure join the church of their own choice rather than force poor atheists like me into a one size fits all secular version.
i would be interested in scrapping most of government and replacing it with a minimum national income paid to all - it would provide basic safety net to the truly poor and extra dollars for the working poor and maybe even some bonus donation money for the middle class.

I'd be happy with a GAI.
