The photographer who took this picture and won a World Press Photo prize with it, is now unemployed and had to sell his cameras in order to have money to live. The idea that capitalism rewards quality and guarantees success to those who are above average is just another myth...

amusingly enough it was capitalism's socialist aspect which has made life very difficult for professional photographers.

the days of only a few having access to high quality imaging gear are long gone, if you can afford 2 grand you can have equipment as good as what cost 20 grand a decade ago and double that again a decade previous.

this has destroyed alot of the photographers market... flickr.com, 500px.com and all the various microstock sites have millions upon millions of high quality images taken by keen amateurs who give their work away for free or extremely low cost.

to survive on photography now the skill is in your salesmanship and money smarts, having nice gear and an artistic eye is no longer the only requirement.

viva le revolution.

Yes, you also need Indian weddings.

It's a good feed with non-photo stuff of the same quality too. But mostly photos.

It looks like the new Leader of Ukraine is going to be Italian. Either Fibonacci or Caravaggio.

At some point in your travels, you’ll come across a sight that’s so beautiful, it takes your breath away.

In those moments there’s only one thing to do. Take a photo. With your balls out.

Nutscaping is a photo-taking trend which involves dropping your trousers, whipping out some testicles (yours, if you have them), and gently hovering above the camera so your balls hang down like a majestic moon in the sky.

Caused by AGW?

 This gives me hope for the future of humanity.

Modern tech enables instantaneous, ubiquitous communication used to share high culture. I think "we" are gonna be ok after all.

What about nipplescaping, we should be fair, after all.......

You need to see the series. Cropping is clipped by the forum software's 640 px width restriction. Thr series ia centered on childhood. It is a serene vision.

Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant contacted conceptual design studio Lernert & Sander to create a piece for a special documentary photography issue about food. Lernert & Sander responded with this somewhat miraculous photo of 98 unprocessed foods cut into extremely precise 2.5cm cubes aligned on a staggered grid.
