changing the countries time because you want to wake up earlier in summer is an abomination against all that is good in the world.

only the most conformist and childish of cultures force everyone to go to work at the same time and deciding that instead of changing the alarm on a single clock, every clock in the land must change, is the height of authoritarian absurdity.

on re reading, it seems to be done with an overly dramatic flair - "starvation" is probably going to bed without dinner (a common enough threat in my part of the world) and so abandonment is possibly a variation on the theme "go to your room".

Nah, I'm pretty sure the map is telling us that in Poland disobedience is at least a week without access to food.

We were more a "go to your room" sort of household, but never with the "without dinner" clause.

I think you are right about it being a (lousy) map with some language/cultural barriers. Germany being "no phone" while everyone else is "no games" sounds like the same thing (all those game apps and all) but one is pointing at the device and the others the activity. Starvation and abandonment are probably really uncharitable translations of "sent to their room".
