we petition the obama administration to:
Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

I like Louisiana and Texas, they need to stay in the Union. NY and CA, those are the petitions I'd sign. :P

California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada will be Mexican territories before the end of the century. Probably by 2050. So you'll be rid of us soon enough.

The Southwest could go to Mexico, western OR, WA, MN, WI, and Chicago could go to Canada, New England down to northern VA could be it's own country and the Middle of America could function as it's own country. It would actually work pretty well and people for the most part would be happy.

Problem is how to divvy up the debt, so it's a non-starter in those terms, but. But. Forces are already in motion.

No, the mid-US would end up like Germany that way... need solid access to a long coast... maybe the Gulf Coast would work.

Everyone is so full of sh*t after losing an election. People are too lazy to even follow through on their drunken boasts to move to Australia or Canada, yet they are going to rip the country asunder with petitions and Facebook campaigns? Have some dignity, guys.

Actually, it is kind of our badge of honor how little treason occurs in America after our elections. The idea of loyal opposition may be fading a bit, but historically speaking it is pretty remarkable that fully 49% of the country can be disgusted at an election result, no matter who wins, and pretty much nothing happens as a result.

This hilarious part is how quickly the losing team starts crying and talking about revolution or exodus after a scheduled, orderly, legal election that will shortly be duplicated.

This has bad news written all over it; even if it "happens" to some extent after every election. I have a gut feeling that these positions are going to embolden some dummy to do something inane and self-defeating.

Let's say we wake up tomorrow and there are several prominent governors, congressmen, etc. who put real weight into actual succession.

What would happen then in today's world?

Would they be drone attack these secessionist politicians almost immediately? What's the chances of a rebel force actually succeeding this time? What world powers would be very interested in an American split.

How does one even start a rebellion in a society where everything you do is recorded?
