A really interesting thing about the new Bond was a focus on old school MacGuyver style ingenuity not fancy gadgets. This interested me culturally, because it says the current generation isn't blown away by gadgets anymore. The entire plot revolved around the old versus the new.

Overall I liked this film better than any Bond since Roger Moore.

It was OK in a very silly way, I have a personal preference for unrealistic plots acted realistically cf the Bourne films. I am also nerdy enough to be irritated by pedantic errors (it was the wrong sort of underground train for Temple station).

Craig is too old to be Bond, but then that was part of the plot.

Blowing up the MI6 headquarters would be a good idea, though, it is an architectural monstrosity. Secret Service HQs should be discreet and hidden, and if you go for that sort of openness, the Lubianka is a much nicer building.

Heh, I think they should have Sean Connery play an aging twisted mental Bond.

Sounds like the 2nd Bond film, From Russia With Love, one of my favourites.

I think that one's preference for the Bond actor depends on the era one grew up in or the first Bond movies one saw.

The Roger Moore series were too campy for me as I thought that the Bond movies were a bit of a parody to begin with.

Anyways, I liked the return to basics of Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace with Daniel Craig and look forward to seeing Skyfall.

What I think is remarkable is the longevity of the Bond series.
This is the 50th anniversary of the release of Dr. No and Skyfall is receiving rave reviews and doing well at the box office.

Offhand, I can' think of any other similar series that has had a successful five decade run.

I like Daniel Craig and Sean Connery best too. But I was really into Bond when I was like 11 and that's when Roger Moore was the newest Bond. I also liked Timothy Dalton when he came out.

This is definitely a lot more Jason Bourne, which I like.

havent seen skyfall yet and ill wait till it bargain bin before i do, like with all movies however - i did see daniel craigs last bond and the constant pout really did my head in.. double oh duckface was an odd thing.

most people seem to agree connery was the only real bond, after discussion with several women ive come to the conclusion he was the only one to pull of the rare combo of being a believable action macho plus lady killer who can wink his way into womens beds.. most actors can only fulfill half of that in a semi believable way.

I thought the bond series was dead because of the cartoonish gadgets until the first Craig Bond.

My wife gets the coveted awards season screeners from the Producer's Guild, so we didn't pay a penny for it.

Same here. I still miss Roger Moore, though.

I'll be the wet blanket, I didn't care for it, I can't imagine sitting through it twice, and I don't care for the Bourne movies either. Too dour. And I hated the close up fighting shots, let me watch dudes fight.

Heh, fight scenes only got interesting in the past 20 years. The fight scenes in old westerns are ridiculous. They had to though, they couldn't have you thinking that Jackie Chan would tear Clint Eastwood apart in like ten seconds. Now spy movies are all Krav Maga all the time.

That being said, I liked it because I expected it to suck as most Bond films are terrible. I don't watch movies twice very often.

Yeah, I though it was ok once through because it was a shift in style, but there just wasn't much story compared to the overwhelming hype. I don't care to get into it too much, I've now forgotten most of it.

I think the best fight scene of all time is the bar gunfight in Raiders and the some of the fights in the 1st Matrix, particularly the sparring with Fishburne.

Can't think of a Bond fight scene I even remember.
