It is a comedy.

I don't know enough about Djokovic to say anything about him and his situation-- but its kinda funny seeing these athletes refuse the shot for health reasons, while loading up on G_d knows what in their gene therapies, experimental hormone treatments, dodgy over the counter stimulants...then of course the steroids

yeh, I dont follow the tennis, cant say whats going on.

I do know our local cricket comp (BBL) has become a farce, some of the teams have the entire first 11 choice players out with covid and now much of the second 11 is starting to go down aswell.

its all systems go on getting it over and done with at the moment, everyone getting infected while the vax's are fresh - perfectly the wrong timing to come in with "im special and dont need the rules" attitude.

The whole thing is a good laugh, and the guy shouldn't get special treatment, but this is ridiculously petty.

colour me sceptical about right wing outrage porn on twitter.

so far every single time ive chased up the story, its been grossly mis represented.

tennis is a gentrified place, he might have been evicted for being shouty and obnoxious.

it might be kind of true now that on think on it.

for most of my childhood croats/serbs/bosnians have been under strict conditions at tennis and soccer games, and often banned.

they dont play by middle class polite rules and set fire to stadiums and start fights.

i doubt they have much wiggle room for being political at the polite clapping tournament.

carry on like tribal muppets at the drop of a hat, they get the same strict rules as skinheads, many are openly fascist.

so the tournanent doesnt start for 10 days, and its just backroom staff setting things up.

this muppet is annoying the organizers, of course they will kick him out.

good luck doing that a week before any tournament anywhere when people are practicing and setting up and have better things todo than deal with idiots

the only camera in the place is this fake outrage merchant fishing for outrage.

I still need to clean myself after spending a quality amount of time on twitter reading all the hashtags on these subjects.

on one side, the #australiahasfallen right wingers, where any inconvenience to the sovereign individual is communist over reach, unless they actually get sick, in which case, then it becomes fascist othering.

or something.

then we have all the scared middle class, any deaths are too many deaths, any risk is too much risk, going mental over the #letitrip, with exactly the opposite raging fury.

in this world, our government is doing the bare minimum, too late, putting the globalism and the economy ahead of lives.

even more mental, or equally mental, or something.

quite obviously both of those sides are then able to point at eachother as examples of group think psychosis, and so forth.

both sides fixated on covid cases, not hospitalisations and deaths.

My understanding of the non-written rules of tennis [which has been written about many times over now] is that you cannot be verbally disruptive (a broad range) but nothing about visual stuffs short of dressing obscenely, I suppose.

Quiet at a tennis match goes back to the 1500s court/royal tennis played in those weird, small rooms where a voice could really bounce around obnoxiously. Plus, I'm sure there was the whole "don't piss off the king/queen/princeling in a game cause you could end up in the tower," aspect to it.

Psychosis might be too far from my vantage point;

triggering some sort of existential episode in a whole lot of people-- surely.

yeh, I think they are quite strict on political protests at the tennis but I cant be arsed chasing it furthur.

the main takeaway for me is he is claiming to be getting kicked out of a tournament that doest start for nearly 2 weeks, so, meh.

The two weeks thing is something I didn't know-- as far as I can tell by glancing the media the Australian Open had already begun.

That's on me.

...while it also goes without saying anyone taking camera footage of themselves is obnoxious....

on a seperate note.

im finding it deliciously ironic that all the american right wing "build a fence and make them pay for it" are suddnely such fans of free movement and the death of national soveriegnty.

in these parts, its one of the few things that left and right agree on, we have a border and we are allowed to set the rules for crossing it.

only the most wokest of woke are against that in our politics.

on that a 100% agree.

but we don't know what it's like to live with a border, so how are we to grasp the connection? :)

More like Canadian right wing..."Rebel News" which seems to be all over the Aussie beat is Canadian last I checked.

I haven't heard a thing about Canada in years now-- don't even know if it still exists.

The generational divide in Australian politics is widening
Opposition to the AUKUS deal among rank and file Labor supporters and similarly aligned voters is increasing by the day.

AFR | The real reason Musk is taking on Australia

The concern shown by the Aussie govt for the rights of the alleged murderer,
so much so that they would like to censor the internet around the planet, is touching.
