Yemen
Re: Yemen
HP, the mistake of the meddling West has always been that it didn't behave in the tribal way... for the full 100%. Territorial tribes reach an equilibrium after they fight, conquer, keep and defend at full force and via total kill if necessary. Same balance of power arises as between species in an ecology. To just meddle around a bit, conquer half-way believing you can exploit others using them as slaves or cheap labor... not gonna work. The West's hubris of thinking they are culturally superior, more sophisticated, of better race and fortune... capable of ruling the "tribal inferiors" instead of just chasing them away or killing them off before taking over new territory.

Yemen's Popular Forces Repulse Saudi Navy Attack in Aden, Seize Vessel
http://english.farsnews.com/newstext.as ... 0214000865
TEHRAN (FNA)- The Ansarullah fighters along with army units repelled a massive naval attack by 50 Saudi vessels on the coastal areas of the Southern Yemeni province of Aden on Monday, leaving large groups of the Riyadh-led coalition soldiers dead and injured.
The Saudi navy troops sustained a heavy toll in the port city of Aden on Monday, as they attempted to launch a major offensive on the Southern province.
The Ansarullah popular fighters also took a number of the Saudi soldiers captive after seizing one of the 50 Saudi invading vessels with all its equipment.
The popular forces have also reportedly damaged several other vessels in the clashes.
The Saudi fighter jets carried out thirty raids on the airport of Yemen's Southern city of Aden late on Sunday and inflicted major damage on the city infrastructure.
Earlier in the day, the governor's office in Aden's Crater district was heavily targeted by the Saudi attacks.
On Sunday, a limited number of Saudi-led ground troops were helliborne to Aden to help Al-Qaeda terrorists and forces loyal to fugitive president Mansour Hadi.
Later reports said the number of the troops sent by the Saudis to Aden stood at 40-50, adding that they were tasked with a surrveilance mission to prepare the ground for a naval attack by the Saudi Army on Ansarullah and Yemen's army forces.
Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 40 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 3,163 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.
Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.
Despite Riyadh's claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
On April 21, Saudi Arabia declared end to Yemen airstrikes after weeks of bombings, but airstrikes are still underway.

Re: Yemen
It seems the Yemenis have finally started receiving accurate anti-aircraft missiles...Saudi warplane downed by Yemeni army NE of Sa'ada
http://www.presstv.com/Detail/2015/05/2 ... lane-saada
Yemeni army has shot down a Saudi warplane northeast of the northern city of Sa'ada, as Al Saud regime continues its aerial attacks against its southern neighbor unabated.
According to Yemen's al-Masirah television, the Saudi plane was downed in Kataf district of the province.
Earlier in the day, another Saudi F-16 fighter jet was downed in the Bayt Khayran area of the district of Bani Harith in the north of the northwestern province of Sana’a.
The fighter jet had reportedly conducted a number of airstrikes against Yemen’s al-Dailami air base.
Saudi jets have been carrying out military strikes against Yemen since March 26.
On May 11, Ansarullah fighters brought down a Moroccan fighter jet violating the country’s airspace in the Noshour Valley in the northern province of Sa’ada.
The remains of a Saudi fighter jet that crashed in the northwestern province of Sana’a in Yemen on May 24, 2014.
Meanwhile, Saudi military attacks against Yemen continue to claim lives.
According to media outlets on Sunday, Saudi warplanes targeted the area of Jabal Naqim in the eastern part of the Yemeni capital city of Sana’a as well as Faj Attan in the southern part of the city.
Yemeni air defense forces fired at the Saudi fighter jets and forced them to leave the area.
Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 -- without a UN mandate -- in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement, which currently controls Sana’a and other major provinces, and to restore power to Yemen’s fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, who is a staunch ally of Riyadh.
The United Nations (UN) says, since March 19, over 1,800 people have been killed and 7,330 injured due to the conflict in Yemen

Just thought it an excellent docu. On the ground footage, well shot, giving you a full HD perception of whats going on. Courageous lady jounalist.A rebel group from northern Yemen has taken over the capital and drastically changed Yemen's political landscape. Engaged in a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the Houthis have brought Yemen to the brink of collapse.
But who are Yemen's Houthis? What do they want? How have they come to take control of huge parts of the country? Safa Al-Ahmad from BBC Arabic has spent three months following the Houthis and also got extraordinary access to their arch-enemies, the Sunni tribal leaders and other fighters loyal to al-Qaeda.

The Yemeni mothers and children dying without medical care
After four years of conflict, the medical and humanitarian situation in Yemen continues to deteriorate due to violent clashes, continuous airstrikes, political interference in aid operations by warring parties, and an economic maelstrom in what was already the poorest country in the Middle East.

Most of the post WWII wars have been civil wars, often added and abetted by foreign involvement and support.kmich wrote:The Yemeni mothers and children dying without medical care

In this case, my understanding is that Yemen is a proxy war between the two sects of Islam: Shi'a - Iran and Sunni - Saudi Arabia.
The US takes a side with the barbaric S Arabia regime, due to its history with Iran and Iran's position with regards to Israel, and is S Arabia's main weapons supplier.
Such civil wars are tragically brutal on civilian populations.

take out much of europes shipping with attacks on vessels that have nothing to do with israel, then play the victim when their are consequences.
blah blah blah blah, middle eastern half truths are gettign boring.
we are at war with the Russia/Iran, no point pretending otherwise, their are no games to be played from now on, doesnt matter who is right and who is wrong.
their will be escalation until a big event and then we will see what the anglosphere is capable of.
have already seen what europe is capable of, and thats very close to nothing - as bad as the arabs really, lots of big claims and stern warnings that go nowhere.

Im not sure where the line is between the absuridty of bombing places into peace versus the absurdity of apologising to bullies in case they escalate.

Id say the one thing pax america had tacit support on from all the big boys in the world is keeping shipping lanes open and stable - its literally the only benefit of america to most folks.
the only quibbling was from china, who also wanted in on that action for themselves, but they still 100% believe it needs to happen.

.. mostly true
US , America, Europe in war with Iran since 1978 .. everything what US and European did to Iran, according to UN charter and international law, is "an act of war" .. for much much less Japan bombed "pear Harbour, for much much less.
Confiscation sovereign funds, blockading Iranian oil sells, hindering free trade with Iran, killing Iranian scientist, sabotaging Iranian nuclear facilities, and and and .. each single one is an "act of war" according to International law.
So, noddy, you right, America and Europe is in full blast war with our beloved Persia
AND ?
Look where Iran was 40, 30, 20, 10 yrs ago and where Iran is now .. look at that
Meaning, West, America, lost the war with Persia
Now Iran is major power, strategic partner with mother Russia, in bed with China .. India now a close partner AND dependent on Iran (north south corridor -all Russian and central Asian goods will transit via Iran to India, and return - making India free from Western blackmail down the road), Turkey, lebanon, Syria, even Egypt now, Afghanistan coming back home. Pomegranates now at home in "central Asia", Tajik, Uzbeck, Kazak
noddy, does West, America really wants our beloved Persia as an ENMEY ? for what ? WHY ?
Iran building a "New Middle East" .. does West wants to be a friend or foe of the "new Middle East" ?
Re Yemen, West was hesitant to do anything, but my guess is US was fooled by Brits .. Brits don't have much NAVY and presence in ME, but America has 5th fleet in Bahrain and many exposed military bases.
Re Europe, Europe is a lost case, forget war :
Macron appoints gay French PM’s ex-partner as foreign minister
French PM is gay and his gay ex partner is the new French foreign minister
mad mullahs can't stop laughing

"Free" for Anglos means : West want to be in control of those "shipping lanes" and the bottle necks .. and use it for Western benefit.
Global south disagrees with that control
And now that control slipping out of Western, Anglos hands
