Interesting cultural difference. In Japan, traditionally, the person that shouts the loudest is perceived to be weakest and lowest in the hierarchy.
The most powerful person is the one who speaks the softest and most calmly, taking time to think about what he says and to choose his words.
"Speaks the least, but says the most."
it is the biggest cultural difference between east asians and anglos
in the anglo world their is no harm at all in being brash and rude but their are limits to it and their are rules to when its acceptable and when you should back off.
confident and aggressive with a sharp wit are all good features, nasty person who abuses the weak, is not the same thing at all - while im sure mr p is correct and the media are editing to create that appearance of trump NOW, he created that appearance for himself on his own show to get ratings so its largely his own fault.
in my current work place, one of the chinese has taken
" softest and most calmly, taking time to think about what he says and to choose his words." into a place of absurdity, you can barely hear him at all and he is so fixated on having the final, most correct word on every issue, everyone stops and waits for him to do so, then promptly ignores it and moves on.
its all ego games, different versions of face, its quite amusing working in mixed workplaces some times.
