Capitalism and Its Discontents
Re: Capitalism and Its Discontents
May the gods preserve and defend me from self-righteous altruists; I can defend myself from my enemies and my friends.

The new crime kid on the block: the Lega Law Cartel. Lawyers that only serve corporate crony capitalism.

The Netherlands is the new King Pin, a major hub for this peculiar brand of narcotics (YMix pointed it out long ago already, I stand corrected ) second in size only to the US. I don't think this was pushed by investors, more likely by corp lawyers who saw a big money market emerging and just pushed for it hard.
This will backfire rather soon when countries realize they are conned into something very disadvantageous to them. At least not investors with a long term strategy who see selling dog-lavender wrapped in gold not as a long term profitable strategy. Unless the decision makers are hit-and-run investment managers that only want to score fast big money and jump off the ship to another host when it starts to sink. But for lawyers... this is a goldmine no matter who will fight who in the end. Just create a conflict that will produce litigation and claims with very big money involved and that can last for decades and decades to come. Better Call Saul!
Crony Capitalism, Corporatism... it sounds like Capitalism didn't really wake and recognize its greatest enemies, still having nightmares about its past and expired enemies Communism and Socialism.

Capitalism is a necessary condition for freedom but not a sufficient condition.

The story of how one man's ideas, together with a dedicated army of lawyers and activists, defeated the guns and bombs of Peru's Shining Path.
Hernando de Soto and his team of researchers found that an astonishing ninety-eight percent of all businesses in Peru were extralegal… as was eighty-eight percent of all rural property. Extralegals had constructed seven out of every ten buildings… had run almost all of its public transportation system…and built and owned the vast majority of Lima's markets. It was clear… the majority of Peru's entrepreneurs had been locked out of the legal system. De Soto and his researchers at the Institute for Liberty and Democracy would risk their lives to let them in.
