I took it as a Dad-joke. "Let that sink in."
1. Let me and my sink in, I own you now.
2. Get used to it, take a chill pill.
3. Twitter is a money sink, billions will go down the drain to make a point.
No, mobile-sink is a tech thing. It’s just over my head. https://www.igi-global.com/dictionary/a ... orks/69886

The Sink.

Bryce Elder OCTOBER 27 2022 | Financial Times

What’s with the sink? Did he just happen to have a spare sink? Was the sink left in storage from when he sold his San Francisco home? Or was it a brand new sink, bought specially for the bit? Did he tell an employee to buy the sink, and if so did he explain the reason why? Did the employee find the bit funny? And did the employee laugh anyway?

Did the office know in advance that he would be bringing a sink? When and how did the negotiations happen between office security and his entourage about the sink? Who filmed him carrying the sink? Exactly how much time and preparation did it take to organise the bit with the sink? And did anyone involved suggest at any point that, given the whole “I’m going to sack 75 per cent of you lol JK” thing, the hilarity might not be unanimous when the new boss shows up with a prop sink?

What now happens to the sink? Did he take the sink away again? Or did he leave it in reception? Will it be thrown away? Or put into storage? Or donated to a plumbers’ charity? Will it be installed in the HQ lobby, like Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, as a monument to the world’s first avant-garde takeover? Might the sink actually represent the burden of whimsicality-at-any-cost he’s chosen to carry for the rest of his life?

Musk is one of the largest DoD contractors, and is actively developing global communications.

I think Musk’s flex in moving the sink into Twitter HQ may have import, and Bryce Elder seems clueless.

Patent filings have revealed that Huawei has made the significant advance in the manufacturing of the smallest and most advanced chips, opening the door for Chinese firms to progress despite US-led tech sanctions on the country, the report said.

Sanctioning China on Semi was a big mistake .. it starves US Semi companies from needed sales for R&D .. and .. pushes China to develop the whole Semi production chain own development, what is happening now.

Unless one assumes Chinese engineers no good and American ones (mostly immigrants) much better, it is a losing strategy.

Imagine if Chinese pull ahead in Semi technology .. that would be a catastrophe for West

IRENE uses a non-contact, optical-scanning approach to digitize historical grooved audio formats such as lacquer discs and wax cylinders. Audio can be retrieved from fragile carriers without risk of groove wear, and from damaged and broken carriers that are otherwise unplayable.

Optical scanning is a process whereby the physical sound carrier is imaged at high resolution and preserved as a digital image file. This file may contain either a two-dimension photographic or three-dimension topographic rendering of the entire physical object. Once digital, the file may be analyzed and processed by software, in order to extract the audio and optionally apply restoration techniques in both the image and audio domain.

I don't mind baby talk, however, I do mind having low quality information returned by a Google search.

Compare the results of the same thing of a google search VS a duckduckgo.com search.

Comparing duckduckgo results to Google results can sometimes offer a fascinating glimpse into the algorithmic manipulations being used.

hype, especially american capitalist hype always runs on a -10 to +10 out of 10 scale, when the real world kinda wobbles between 5 and 7, with rare dips and peaks above the incremental changes.

ChatGPT is not interesting for its replies, which are largely template driven nonsense but it is an excellent step forward on the parsing of natural language.

I havent got an interesting answer out of it yet, but it has been pretty good at working out what i wanted.

ChatGPT will be the search engine/fact checker replacement for the low to modest IQ crowd. A clever front end for Wikipedia.

Deliberately designed to never give you a link or citation.

Sounds about right. I heard a lot of people say it is great to use to learn to code. :P

On another note, some people have figured out how to hack ChatGPT to release "Dan", the dark and completely un-woke "alter personality" of ChatGPT.
