Re: Asian dramas
The gender switch has now become a trope in E Asian dramas. "Mr. Queen" is one of the better/funnier versions. Time travel being another trope. If your Viki account is still active, I can suggest the following K-dramas "Couple or Trouble", a 2005 series based on the same premise...

Re: Steers, Queers, and Chicks with Sticks | The LGBT... Issue
Thanks Colonel, using a different browser cured the problem. I don't mind paying $5 for a while to see what it's all about. Did you find it entertaining or did you kiss five bucks goodbye? Yeah, I actually did find "Mr. Queen" interesting and entertaining. The man in woman's body was real...

Re: Climate change and other predictions of Imminent Doom
From the map we could alleviate the intensity of the energy debate by forcing solar proponents in the Northern Hemisphere to move to the Sahara.
P.S. It's smart not to force utilities to buy power no matter what, though they ought to be able to offer a price premium during peak demand.

Re: Climate change and other predictions of Imminent Doom
Solar users getting paid by grid operators is a real headache for utilities. They may not want that power at that particular time but are forced to buy it, and at a premium in many cases. But the price premium isn't the biggest problem as many of us know. Using the grid as a surrogate "battery&...

Re: Climate change and other predictions of Imminent Doom
For real, dude. Like California, man. Haha, nice affectation! What most Californians don't realize is that they are essentially being lied to by people they should be able to trust. I wonder how bad things will get before the real truth gets realized? Someday they won't be able to buy enough out of...

Re: Climate change and other predictions of Imminent Doom
Space isn't really at a premium in many of the places solar is well-suited for. The power guys I have talked to appreciate solar more than wind because, while it's still intermittent, it it more predictably intermittent than wind. Wind is capricious, which it bad for power grids, which rely on stead...

In my own defense, I did say "is only critical in mobile applications," not "only matters in in mobile applications." Point taken, though.

Let's be fair, energy density is only critical in mobile applications which must carry their own fuel.

Re: Climate change and other predictions of Imminent Doom
Good info on the subject is tough to come by, but by my estimates about 22 million Tesla Powerwalls or equivalent would suffice for 100% green energy in California, assuming enough expansion of solar & wind capacity to charge them. That number is likely too low for a hot, windless summer evening...

Re: Climate change and other predictions of Imminent Doom
How about you tell us all about our newfangled way of storing all the gigawatt hours required to make the renewable dream come to fruition, without the crutch of fossil fuel or nuclear base load generation. Gonna tell us about massive banks of magical batteries? What will it be? Pull that magic out...

Re: Steers, Queers, and Chicks with Sticks | The LGBT... Issue
This stuff doesn't affect me much now that I'm officially old. If I ended up a widower I'd probably be a volcel. But that Korean show in particular looks hilarious, I wonder how one in the US might subscribe to a service which offers it? Edit: Nevermind, I signed up for the Rakuten Viki free trial. ...

At this point in our technological development, the only viable grid energy storage system is pumped hydro. Very expensive, only suited to certain locations, very poor ROI. . . . According to Zack's tribal Shamans, the good news is that wind and solar power generation technologies are no longer considered "unreliable" power generation technologies merely "intermittent" power generation technologies! "Intermittency" is the actual term that power...

Liz Cheney can go to hell. We tried it the neocon way, and it was a disaster. Just because Trumpism is on the outs doesn't make the neocons look any better.
