Re: Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

Should quantum computing become practical, there's little doubt that blockchain will also benefit by its use.

No reason to be bullish on crypto if you believe that powers like the US and the EU are good stewards of their respective currencies.

I'm not in that camp, not anymore.

Re: Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

(snip) You do have a point. Currently all govt issued currency is fiat. I don't think that the definition of fiat include "issued by a central authority". However, I would not discount the power of the state when it comes to enforcing the use of the state currency. The second part of your...

Re: The Potential Pandemic | Ebola, MERS, and other fears

If it's easy to believe that climate science has suffered institutional capture, should not the healthcare apparatus also deserve a healthy amount of skepticism? Why should they be immune to criticism?

Re: Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies

It's still early. Bitcoin is gaining acceptance faster in areas with unstable currencies. Such is its purpose, really, if you have a stable currency, it's easy to overlook the need for something like Bitcoin. For anyone interested, this is as good a primer on Bitcoin as I have ever heard: FXvQcuIb5rU

Re: The Potential Pandemic | Ebola, MERS, and other fears

Thanks. Given the drug's safety record over decades of use, it still baffles me that there seems to be a knee-jerk aversion to its use, a de facto proscription rather than a prescription. I would not want this med over the counter, but it seems like a reasonable interaction with one's doctor should...

Amazing indeed. Nobel prize, WHO 300 essential medicines, destroys parasites, anti-virus and evidence of anti-cancer properties, far lower toxicity than most otc meds, developed from a natural source. Ivermectin should be on every drugstore shelf next to the aspirin. It also completely flushes out ...

Re: Australia - Human Rights

At least you can say we care, even if we're getting it laughably wrong. Back when I lived in the US Midwest I recall a Canadian friend saying that he was very happy that most Americans, and most important, most American politicians could not locate Canada on a map as the last thing any nation wants...

First, glad to know that you survived your COVID-19 infection. Hope you fully recover soon and thrive. Not advice, but I'll describe what worked for me w.r.t. weight loss. I had gained about 20 kg [44 lbs] over the course of about 6 months due to an experimental treatment for an ongoing health cond...

...As for the J&J vaccine if you get it talk to your doctor about it and MAKE SURE they aspirate the injection before they unload the syringe into your arm. Tell them to do that before they actual jab you. When I got it they did not do that and I bled after the shot which means it was injected ...

harsh. their are probably asthma/emphysema type steroids you can take to help work your way through to improved lung function ? Apologies for my tardy reply. Life is placing inordinate demands on my time lately. Post-illness, it seems that when I have some free time, I have simply been passing out in my office chair, then staggering off to bed without even setting up the coffeemaker. It's getting better, though. I have had C...

Re: The Potential Pandemic | Ebola, MERS, and other fears

Have many participants here caught COVID? Would this be an acceptable spot for a personal anecdote re the course of the disease and interactions with the health system, or it such a thing better placed elsewhere?
