Re: Firearms and other Weapons

... If I buy a video game for 50 bucks, the standard gameplay is between 6-12 hours for the game. If I replay it, I can play for a long time. Shooting for 12 hours costs more than $ 50 with any serious calibre rifle. ^ Did I just see video games compared to recreational shooting? What's tha...

Re: Collective mind and riot warning signs....

I have definitely been in experiences where the collective mind is taking over and you get caught up in it. Never to the degree that I participate in a riot. I have very keen riot-dar. I am good at leaving right before the riot starts. Thank you Very Much for your post, Tinker. Please tell more.......

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

Sure, but usually people who play golf are wealthy or at least upper-middle class. You meet a lot of blue collar folks who have a lot of guns. They must spend a large proportion of their income on guns. If I buy a video game for 50 bucks, the standard gameplay is between 6-12 hours for the game. If...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

I'm amazed at how prevalent this extremely expensive hobby is. Lots of hobbies are expensive. Golf with $550 drivers, $1000 irons and $200 putters and $15 for a sleeve of 3 balls. Skiing requires expensive equipment and access to the trails. A decent guitar or other musical equipment will set you b...

Man I love this kind of stuff. He should get the Congressional Medal of Freedom. These people are doing the hard work of procurring freedom, and are among our great heroes. It makes me feel like this guy: ul4CZrnEFxU I can't tell, I am supposed to be horrified by the violence or enthralled by the v...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

How do you like that Judge? I'm thinking of getting one. Works fine for me (I have the Titanium version). I don't like the double-action so much, so I usually cock it with the thumb and fire single action. It surprisingly has little kick when firing the 45LCs (or the 410s either). I haven't gone to...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

7.62 NATO (.308 Winchester) is the absolute minimum they need; thus it should be avoided at all costs. To create a weapon suited to their needs, combine: (a) the strength and speed of the Lee Enfield action ; (b) a more powerful, rimless cartridge such as .338 Lapua Magnum (8.6x70mm); (c) a redesig...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

How many of you guys would shoot a burglar? Not some maniac coming at you, but a guy trying to get your TV out the window. Just curious. The answer is absolutely no. And anybody thinking about it here, the answer has to be no. Put aside the moral and even legal dimensions, the reality is if you sho...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

The main thrust of my question was whether or not you'd kill someone over property. State laws and hypothetical tactical scenarios aside for the time being. Agreed that you can say "weeeell, he might come after my family," but then so could any random passer by on the street. Assuming you...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

Sounds interesting. From my perspective, most women-folk can mostly handle light 12ga target loads for practice, weapon familiarity, etc. And it's not like there's a huge savings in ammo costs. For castle defense purposes, full-power loads can be employed--and under the adrenaline rush of an actual...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons

I missed this sub-forum. ;) Gonna try and stay just here. For real this time. Mr. P. , I tend to agree on the handgun selection, but would go further and say that the .40 is superior to the .357 alternatives in ammo availablity and cost. I would add that I rather like the new Ruger SR22. I was agon...

Re: Hate Crimes

Actually, I do blame the cast you ID'd for bringing in the white-black side. GZ is a self-identified Hispanic. But, a dead 17-year old and no charges filed that night? That brings in the DA and PD, and their either competence, or motivation. Hell, even if you accept GZ's story word for word, all it...

Florida, the area under question, is not half as violent as it was 30-40 years ago. As Noddy suggests, not only is there less of it, but there is also better reporting includes things that previously did not happen, officially speaking. But fear and prosperity are relative . The fear level in the p...

Noddy, have a look at these stats. http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm Specifically, look at aggravated assault per 100,000 inhabitants for the 1960 - 2010 period. Not exactly the same story. Yes, there seemed to have been a peak in the early to mid 1990s, but it is still a higher number...

Having a child is much like life...full of positives and negatives.
