Thor 3 definitely had a political message beneath all the popcorn and milk duds.
It was anti-imperialism/colonialism and all of the faddishness around that.
Thor starts out in chains in front of the fire demon, foreshadowing the events of the movie and symbolizing the chains of imperialism and the demon is the 3rd world people-of-color proletariat that will judge and destroy the privileged, white supremacist Thor, son of Odin.
Hella represents the real history of Odin's cosmic empire- built on slavery and exploitation of the other races- a history which is hidden and covered up to justify Odin's continued reign.
Think of the throne room scene where she literally breaks the ceiling fresco to reveal the "real" fresco underneath to the working-class white guy Skregg or Skurge or Surge (forget the name) who is a demoted warrior/pathetic janitor [downward mobility- stale, pale white man] when he meets Hella who seduces him into wanting to make Asgard Great Again.
Taika Waititi makes it really clear that Odin is really the bad guy and that Hella is his real nature, legacy and heir.
...and it's not until the noble white man...err, norse god is sold into slavery himself and loses everything that he is worthy of being a free man.
Even Hulk is politicized as a representation of the marginalized who sell out and become tokens.
What I'm surprised with is how Taika Waititi and Disney got away with the same blatant Jewish stereotyping that George Lucas got killed for in the Phantom Menace. edit: I didn't know Taika Waititi also sometimes goes by Taika Cohen.
Then after Thor submits to the African Valkyrie, they go and destroy Odin's Kingdom and legacy for their penance.
They even throw in that line at the end about Asgard not being a land but an inclusive peoples.
Then the angry alt-right character has an epiphany about multiculturalism after seeing all the former slave/immigrants that Thor brings out of captivity to Asgard. and how disgusted he is at his ancestors and goes out in a blaze of glory.
Or in other words, the now enlightened and inter-sectional aristocrat,Thor, Loki&co. are integrated into the new order and take their rightful place as kings, while the upstarts like Surge take the proper amount of punishment.
Sort of like Waititi is only okay with upper-middle class/rich white guys he socializes with or pays his salary and isn't alright with the guy at the box office buying the ticket to make his movie a hit.

It's Marvel's
most political movie.
Waititi may as well have entitled the movie: Thor: The White Working Class the World Over Should Die By Fire
