Phucked up peeples often choose phucked up coping mechanisms, suicide being the worst.
The medical profession has ethical standards and behavioral limits. These slow down suicide.
Why are so many suicides on ECT/antidepressants? Because a suicidal outcome is measurable, and a delay in suicide is not. The fact that potential suicides are preselected is ignored. Figure anyone who thinks they are somehow the wrong biological sex is a suicide waiting to happen, and the question becomes how do we postpone this tragedy and give this person a chance to work out their own salvation.
I don't think any male can consent to being castrated or having their dick turned inside out without an in-depth psychiatric protocol. I don't think a biological female can consent to an 'addadicktomy' without one either.
We only see the failure cases. The successes move on in anonymity.

Transgender is not a terminal illness. You have to decide to die from it. Cancer will kill you if you don't take the drug. So not a valid comparison.
A valid comparison would be a combination of lobotomies and antidepressants, where irreversible damage is done with no discernible benefit (lobotomy) or it makes it worse (antidepressant).

I was caring for a woman and asked, “So how’s your breakfast this morning?”
“It’s very good, except for the Kentucky Jelly. I can’t seem to get used to the taste,” the patient replied.
I then asked to see the jelly and the woman produced a foil packet labeled “KY Jelly.”

The Obama administration will send a letter to every public school district in the country Friday warning them that they must allow students to use whatever bathroom and locker room corresponds to their stated gender identity, or face a federal lawsuit.
The decree, sent jointly by the Department of Justice and the Department of Education, comes just a few days after North Carolina and the federal government sued each other over the state’s recent law governing bathroom use in public buildings. It won’t be a new federal law, but will instead reflect the Obama administration’s interpretation of existing federal anti-discrimination law.
In particular, the decree is based on Title IX, the 1972 law prohibiting sex discrimination in schools that receive federal funding. While the drafters of the law may not have known it at the time, the Obama administration’s position is that the law covers discrimination based on gender identity as well as physical sex.
“A school may not require transgender students to use facilities inconsistent with their gender identity or to use individual-user facilities when other students are not required to do so,” the letter says, according to The New York Times, which obtained a copy.
Currently, federal courts have not conclusively settled whether, and to what degree, sex discrimination laws cover matters of gender identity as opposed to physical sex

Pride
This Gay Pride, let’s celebrate shame - Chadwick Moore, The Spectator, 17 June 2019
https://spectator.us/this-gay-pride-let ... ate-shame/
https://spectator.us/this-gay-pride-let ... ate-shame/
... The gay rights movement was founded by gay men who were almost entirely white. But the taxpayer-funded advertisements for World Pride 2019, plastered on subway cars, streetlights, and billboards in New York City, and in magazines and websites, intentionally feature no images of white people and very few men. It’s mostly obese, sassy black lesbians. And the Pride 50th Anniversary banner a block away from Stonewall features the image of a Muslim woman in a hijab.
This Pride month, let’s acknowledge what gay people can teach us about the virtues of shame. Let their movement be cautionary and instructive. Let us use this month to reflect on how we may be more humble and palatable to our fellow man. Let’s appreciate all the wonderful things that shame has brought to our lives.
Few gay men are proud to have surrendered their movement to a hostile takeover by Democrats, corporations, Marxists, and racial identitarians. There’s also nothing to be proud of when the powerful LGBT lobby thinks so lowly of its own people that all its political gains have been based on lies and misinformation, and all its public figures are scrubbed and sanitized.
The only sense of ‘pride’ I ever felt at being gay came from knowing my forefathers included cultural icons like Oscar Wilde, Quentin Crisp, and Freddie Mercury. Today we’re left with sexless 3D printout Pete Buttigieg, drag-queen story-time in elementary schools, chemically castrated ‘transgender children,’ and an entire generation of privileged little brats addicted to fantasy oppression porn, boycotting chicken sandwiches, and hauling elderly bakers into the Supreme Court. Time to put it away, guys. That’s nothing to be proud of.

gay people themselves are largely a weapon for the progressives to attack conservatives with and to do this they must follow strict rules of conduct.
to play this role they must be colourful, a bit affected/extra, somewhat feminine type gay people with hearts of gold in the most non threatning way possible.
all the other flavours dont exist, no butch bears, no conservative suits, no slobby hippies etc.

All exactly true, but it's worse than that.
Gay men (I prefer 'queer', not as a way of re-appropriating its pejorative meaning, but because its original sense comes closest to my own personality) are not made to feel welcome in LGBT organizations.
That has been true since the mid 1990s, which is when I last attempted serious engagement with them and is much more true now.
It's even evident in the literary world.
Last November I was in the neighbourhood and walked over to Vancouver's longest surviving gay bookstore, Little Sisters. They used to be in the news a lot from a never ending court case involving what Canada Customs claimed was pornography. I hadn't been in there for years, but decided maybe I should take another look.
These days it's not all that exciting, well at least not for a librarian. Bookstores everywhere and of every kind have gone into decline. I guess Little Sisters is no exception.
Their books are classified into several sections including 'Erotica for Men', 'Graphica', a section devoted to how-to sex manuals, 'Coming Out and Children', and 'Gender and Trans', 'Queer Fiction', and 'Queer Lives'.
Notable for its absence are books about sexuality in general and books which describe the psychology, sociology, philosophy, ethnography, and history of homosexuality.
In other words, anything with any thought to it. In keeping with present-day progressive attitudes, it's all about me now and geared entirely to the emotions. Fantasy over fact. Suffering over joy. Even politics gets short shrift.

Joe Exotic might be the best gay role model I’ve seen on television - Chadwick Moore, Spectator USA, 11 April 2020

His existence throws a wrench in the narrative that the other America is a hateful land where Christians hunt homos for sport
... Tiger King, it appears, may also reopen a cold case. The popularity of the show has led police in Tampa, Florida to reexamine the 1997 disappearance of Carol Baskin’s husband, Jack ‘Don’ Lewis. Baskin, the most unlikable person in the documentary by far, and Joe Exotic’s nemesis, runs a sanctuary in Florida called Big Cat Rescue where she dedicates her time to shutting down private zoos like the one Exotic runs. Exotic spent years claiming Baskin murdered her husband and fed him to tigers. Baskin’s hippie flower crowns, tie-dyed shirts, and smug disposition, seated hands-in-lap alongside her wimpy, egg-headed and self-righteous third husband, couldn’t make for a more perfect arch-rival to Exotic’s gun-slinging, brash showmanship. Which calls to mind the glaring appeal of the series: even in this odd microcosm, we’re still reliving the 2016 election.
Suspected murder isn’t the only thing Baskin has in common with Hillary Clinton: the two resemble each other physically and in demeanor. Baskin is that serene authoritarian who enjoys the smell of her own flatulence, subscribes to the Sunday New York Times, and never questions her own benevolence and sense of justice. Exotic is the opposite, a deeply-flawed, chaotic libertine who, despite many grim details about his life and relationships, has in excess the most admirable quality a person can possess — grit. The internet wasted no time in picking up on the similarities and has been awash in memes juxtaposing Clinton’s face over Baskin’s and Trump’s over Exotic’s.

Amen Apollonius! Thanks for posting.
I've heard a lot of discussion about Tiger King, but haven't watched any of it. Flawed people who mind their own business, or do-gooder with unlimited time to improve other people? I know which I would prefer as neighbors.
Regarding pride, is that an emotion, or a feeling? Either way it seems highly personalized. Tough for the "other" to grapple with, cause, let's face it, "their interpretation" is always wrong. If "they" weren't so wrong all the time, there would be little need for "us" to proselytize. It's a symbiotic relationship.
I want to do my part to help. So here is an uplifting ditty.

Happy Pride! It’s time to topple the Stonewall myth - Chadwick Moore, Spectator USA, 23 June 2020
https://spectator.us/happy-pride-time-t ... wall-myth/
https://spectator.us/happy-pride-time-t ... wall-myth/
Everything you know about gay history is a lie. The history of homosexuality is constantly in flux, rewritten by whoever is in power at the time. There’s no guarantee the stories we tell ourselves today will still be true in five years. Naturally, transgender women of color hurled the first bricks at Stonewall, the uprising outside of a gay bar in 1969 that sparked the modern gay rights movement. Except they didn’t. This little bit of historical revisionism appeared about 10 years ago and has been completely digested as fact by the entirety of the LGBT Industrial Complex, for one simple reason: LGBTQAI+ is no longer interested in gay individuals, or equality, but has been transformed into yet another vehicle of social Marxism, their specific target being to confuse and chip away at norms surrounding gender, sexuality, and relationships. ...

Re: Pride
Sounds like you guys haven't met a lot of gay guys. In the professional (and very liberal) world I inhabit, it can be extremely hard to tell. A progressivist cabal does not, in fact, regulate their behavior. My former boss, for example, is openly gay. I only found out after months of knowing him when a coworker asked about his wife when he was telling a story about his kids, prompting a quick correction: "you mean husband. I'm gay." He's Australian, doesn't have a stylish bone in his body, no"gay affect", and at the office is all business all the time. He's a committed father to his children. And he's not some weird outlier, either.Apollonius wrote: ↑Tue Jun 18, 2019 5:55 pmnoddy wrote:gay people themselves are largely a weapon for the progressives to attack conservatives with and to do this they must follow strict rules of conduct.
