Yeah. This has been frustrating to Democrats for years now. They don't even know what it is yet (see ymix's posts).noddy wrote:its all very zen - their is no tea party. everything is the tea party.
Democrats have learned it, for sure.vigourously rubbing your scrote in someones face is the path to wisdom, a meditation technique fitting of the modern age.
'you guys' should know that.
It's all in the exit polls. Trump won every category of GOP. Tea party, moderate, social conservative, you name it trump won it.im sure he has picked up alot of the dissatisfied republicans who aligned with the tea party, im not convinced he has picked up the conservatives with his consistent stances on guns, abortion and states rights.
I'm into bagging, Trump is into schlonging, I've been bagging Democrats for some time but I'm very open schlonging them too.

Where are the preachers?
Folks,
A guy on the radio asked where the Evangelical voices are on Trump. What's happened to the party of 'family values'? Why the silence?

Hey, I'm just telling it like it is, man. I'm no commie. After years of imbibing conservative logic, I've come to see a certain elegance to it. Success is the reward for virtuous behavior and superior culture. This is why educated whites, Asians, hard-working and thrifty Mexicans, and anyone who plays a classical instrument is doing so well right now. The Welfare and Disability Queens, the angry ranchers and the Aryan Nations, the Evangelicals, etc. They're all just living in the last millennium. The Trump voters in particular want their small-handed Daddy to tell everyone who they can and cannot sell goods and services to. If that's not the sign of anti-entrepreneurial degeneracy, well I don't know what is.Demon of Undoing wrote:Zack Morris wrote:Who cares about the rust belt? Good to know the horsecrap stills flows thick and heavy on the commie- loving side of the aisle, here as well as in the Beltway.
I remember the good old days when socialists used to have a certain sympathy for regular folks that were outmaneuvered by huge business interests and evil governance. Inadequate work ethic? You mean they should, I don't know, not sleep or something? Or are you ignoring the historically high levels of hours worked by the American worker? Lack of respect for education? You mean the lack of respect that eventually led to ( nationally) too many college educated, not enough tradesmen- type profile that we have now? That one?
And what " pre- modern " attitudes? The ones that don't reflect every latest twist that the feminist -studies majors manage to puke through the TV/internet/ bedwetting left media?
Keep up with that line. Trump is up 5 with likely voters as of today. Your elitism will bring about President Trump. You deserve an actual fascist, but that's as good as we can manage.
But take heart, there is hope yet! All they need to do is get over themselves and adopt the behaviors of more successful people -- like me! They should stop watching degenerate television and listening to degenerate music. They also need to stop listening to their corrupt, self-aggrandizing leaders. The Grahams and Falwells, the Limbaughs and Becks, the Coulters and Palins. Imagine if instead of playing grab-ass with oblong balls, people in the Rust Belt and deep South instead spent time sending their kids to cram schools, doing calculus, code bootcamps, and playing violin. Even the poorest can afford a pencil, paper, and a library card!
I just want to see some values brought back to the US of A!

Re: The Donald....the newest savior.....
As someone who is a passive observer of American elections, and to boot, one who never watches campaign speeches or debates or, for that matter, TV of any kind, I should probably refrain from posting to this subject. However, I cannot help but be interested.
Before I get distracted by my own post I was intrigued by a comment by SM that he thought that libertarians would not be voting for Trump, and I wondered why.
Here's something that was thrown my way, which was more interesting from the discussion it generated than from the piece itself:
Welcome to the age of Trump - Jonathan Freedman, The Guardian, 19 May 2016
http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016 ... e-of-trump
There are hundreds and hundreds of comments, too many to do more than skim, however, my impression is that there were more people critical of the author of the article than of Trump.
I liked this one:
Another great comment:
As the next person commented, "This response is better than the article".
Don't worry, I'm not all that reliable in predicting the future, but like Alexis, another person who won't be voting, I have a gut feeling that Trump might very well win this election.

What does it look like, this new landscape? It is a place where the core institutions of liberal democracy – parliament, the universities, the civil service, the media – are regarded with deep scepticism, if not outright cynicism. Where once the public conversation might have agreed that some media organisations, say, could be trusted to tell the truth, more or less, now there is no such assumption. The word of the BBC or the New York Times will not just be contested but presumed to be false and mendacious, serving some other agenda just like the rest of the hated mainstream media, the “MSM”. That suspicion is voiced as hotly on the left as on the right, but the effect is on the middle. It makes that common ground shrink a little every day, leaving a queasy sense that there is a diminishing place where we can stand together and conduct a civil public conversation, one in which we all agree on the basic facts.
There are hundreds and hundreds of comments, too many to do more than skim, however, my impression is that there were more people critical of the author of the article than of Trump.
I liked this one:
The photo - Donald Trump greets an excited supporter at a campaign rally in Lowell, Massachusetts. Photograph: Brian Snyder/Reuters - shows 4 women and a young man. As you should be able to see from the photograph that you yourself present, Trumps supporters are not all working class white men. If you actually watched the videos of the crowds at his meetings, you would see a mix of people and you do not know at all who these people are. You try to make them sound uneducated and stupid. You don't know their life histories and challenges.
My sister-in-law and a very good friend lost their homes in 2008. While the big banks were bailed out, the money that should have gone for mortgage relief for those two women dissipated like morning fog on a sunny day. There is a very good reason why people are angry. Perhaps our critics would like to see us go back to living in sod houses? Where and HOW will our young people make their homes?
Are young people being taught how to manage money? How to understand a mortgage contract? What percent of their income should go for housing? Economics of any sort?
No. They are being taught the latest item for which to be indignant. They are being commanded where to pee and evacuate their bowels. They are being taught to watch for the latest fad to cause their hackles to go up. The intelligent and sensible will see through this. Unfortunately the intelligent and sensible may be outnumbered. Time will tell.
I am a Trump supporter. I am also 73 years old and female. I am of mixed ancestry just as Obama is. He appears black. I appear white. Neither of us is of a "pure" race. I have an IQ of 130 and was chosen for the National Honor Society ages ago. I stay current on world affairs which is really difficult now that "News" has devolved to sensationalism mongering. Basically, you don't know who we are, but you tell a tale anyway. You know what Macbeth said about life: It is a tale told by an ,,,,,,,,,,,,
Another great comment:
The problem with long reads is they tend to provoke long responses. I'll try to keep this brief by giving one individual problem which is indicative of a far greater problem I have with the article.
You mention the angry white vote as the working class who have been criminally let down by government and 'democracy'. You then mention the racist vote. I'm sure both exist. Unfortunately, what you've done is meld them together, as though to suggest that Trump's supporters aren't just one, but also the other. There are problems with this for me, as a reader, not least that it appears like a mendacious attempt to dismiss valid concerns by trying to make them synonymous with bigoted ones. But just as important, for me, is it completely misses the real reason that Trump is successful. Namely, he genuinely is coming out with truths that other politicians will not say.
That's the genius of his approach - he appeals to separate groups of people with virtually nothing in common, because he is the only game in town for each group. When he bangs on about corruption in politics he is 100% correct. He has a monopoly on that area in the Republican party, and assuming Clinton beats Sanders, he has a monopoly on it when it comes to the head to head. When he makes an appeal to whatever group of bigoted people he appeals to, he does it in such a cartoonish way that the people drawn to him because of something like his stance on corruption in politics find it easy to dismiss it as something he's just doing to get the loony voters on his side, but he wouldn't actually go through with. Now, you might think that being anti-corruption and cynical vote-grabbing are incompatible, but they aren't. Not really. Because the corruption is focused like a laser beam on a very specific type of corruption, and that is what is cared about.
Because this is the real reason that there is upheaval in the political scene at the moment: there are real, genuine problems that people are afraid to talk about. Whether that is the clash between Western culture and the predominant conservative forms of Islam (which get more and more threatening the more you focus the net into Islamists and Jihadists), or the ever widening gap between the poor and the rich, or the alarming trends in terms of authoritarianism on the left (for some reason we seem to be happy to accept that it is there on the right), or a plethora of other things. Whilst we hide our heads in the sand on these topics, of course populist leaders who are willing to talk about them will get votes. They are the only politicians talking about, and offering solutions for, the most important questions of our time.
As the next person commented, "This response is better than the article".
Don't worry, I'm not all that reliable in predicting the future, but like Alexis, another person who won't be voting, I have a gut feeling that Trump might very well win this election.
