The international pundits I listen to say nobody trusts the US but they trust the other countries less. They do not want to trade for ruble or bhat or rial.

China isnt attacking anyone , its strutting its stuff the way America does, cruising battleships past smaller countries that cant do anything about it, showing them who is the real big dick in the region.
Why is this happening ? Its because their is no west anymore, so they dont have to fear retaliation from the USA or Europe about doing this kind of thing - the west has been on deaths door for a while, the Ukrainian thing exposed its frailty and now Trump has started burying the coffin.
The only global leaders who are threatning western countries with aggression are Trump (Canada, Denmark) and Putin (Western Europe) , the only countries which feel safer from a Trump presidency are Russia and Israel.
Everyone else is busy recalibrating away from America as fast as they possibly can - its going to be interesting.
You wanted America first, America alone, you have it. be happy.

The problem with your idea that America makes a lot of money from being the world's policeman is that whatever money is made goes into the pocket of the top one percent. The same people who thought sending our manufacturing capability to China was a great idea. And for them it was a river of money. Then the money gets re-invested else where outside of the US. As world policeman we resign.noddy wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025 00:36 the argument was always that being in control of, and at the centre of, world trade and world millitary industrial complex, you made more money than it cost you.
we will find out soon enough if being trade isolated with tariffs and more irrelevant to the world actually makes the lifestyle for the average american better.
I await your news of massive tax cuts and lower costs of living.
im kinda jealous, least you arent doing status quo - even if i suspect that its not going to work out as simply as "we saved 1 gazillion dollars"
Now imagine how Americans feel now that it has come out that the Agency that they believed was providing humanitarian aid for the rest of the world in their name was mostly just a scam?United States Foreign Aid

Sure I am all for ending social services for the 1%. It is called Oligarchy.
1) is only vaguely true in that donald trump verbal diorreah, can interpret it 5 different ways kinda fashion.Doc wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025 13:07Sure I am all for ending social services for the 1%. It is called Oligarchy.
But lets review
1) Trump has not declared that he was pulling the US out of NATO. Much less likely now that Europe has decided it was going to spend more on its self defense and is not going to go directly to war with Putin like Trump has been telling them to do for 8 years and every president for the last 20 years has been telling them outside of the president that was not there Joe Biden.
2)Time is not on Ukraine's side. It simply does not have the man power left to remove Russian troops from its territory and no one else, not even Europe, was ever going to do that for them.
3)The reason the Biden admin and Europe have supported Ukraine is not to defeat Russia out right But to degrade Putin's military. If Russia was meant to be defeated Ukraine would have been supplied with more advanced weapons from the start of this war.
4)Japan got the message to re-arm years ago. DO you remember the famous picture of European leaders confronting Trump at the NATO meeting with Abe literally standing with Trump?
5)The US military is more serious now in preparing for war, not with Russia, but with China, than at any other time in US history. They have the PLA's number on speed dial but would rather not get in a conference call that includes Russia. As the PLA has lot of holes in its defenses Stuff that no one talks about. Russia on China's side would plug the biggest of those holes.
6) China is most definitely threatening war right now. Most because its economy is cratering even without US tariffs, and has little chance to recover anytime soon with US tariffs. So what's a unpopular despot regime to do to control the unhappy masses? - A great patriotic war to take revenge for 100 years of humiliation of course !
Things can go to hell pretty fast.
Why should Ukraine matter to the US as a national interest instead of a moral interest? And if it is just a moral interest Ukraine before Putin invaded had(HAS) one of the most corrupt governments in Europe. To such a point it could not qualify for membership in the EU without massive reforms or the EU throwing out membership rules.noddy wrote: ↑12 Mar 2025 01:171) is only vaguely true in that donald trump verbal diorreah, can interpret it 5 different ways kinda fashion.Doc wrote: ↑10 Mar 2025 13:07Sure I am all for ending social services for the 1%. he as said he has the right to not defend any country that doent meet his (subject to change) standards
he has thrown every single relationship the US had with the world out the door and broken a centuries worth of agreements.
so nar, not true.
all the ukraine stuff, irrelevant, dont care - as i said, this is not about ukraine, never was, never will be.
this is about the relationship between the US, Europe and Russia - if you keep trying to make this about ukraine, I just think you are trying to ignore whats happening.
China isnt a threat, this is all hyperventaliation, they will retake taiwan, its an island of chinese off the chinese coast.
aint nobody going to die for that.. its as absurd as dying for an island of slavs off the russian border.. oh .. wait.. this is confusing isnt it.
