The substandard alien contractors were documented in the Terry Gilliam film “Time Bandits”. TL;DR the subcontractors were fired for making a tree that was bright pink, very tall and smelled terrible so they stole the map of creation…Plus the Sequel "The Gods they must be lazy" Which covers the Gods hiring substandard alien contractors to actually build all creation.
