If memory serves, Neuschwanstein Castle was the model for the Disneyland castle.

As someone who abhors such theme parks, I've never been there.
My cousin was the lead project manager in designing and building it. He was an imagineer at the time.

In my opinion there was one Modernist architect who made it work: Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
The Barcelona Pavilion [1929], the Seagram building in New York, 330 North Wabash in Chicago, and the Toronto Dominion Centre in, well, Toronto are beautiful examples of the "less is more" balance.
Of course, there have been countless imitators, which resulted in lots of banal skyscrapers.
