*reading the link provided, he says that he's not going anywhere but I can't imagine his party is too thrilled and may have thoughts about this.

Well, Ishiba survived and is still PM for now.

The LDP consists of a number of factions competing for power. Parties within the party, one could say.
Much more well defined than, say, the "big tent" of the US Democrats.

J-culture would typically have PM Ishiba "take responsibility" and resign, but the loss of votes was clearly due to a LDP slush fund scandal, along with the Unification Church influence scandal, within the Seiwa Seisaku Kenkyūkai right faction, which included the late former PM Abe, while PM Ishiba is part of the Kōchikai centrist faction, so he was not implicated.
