Re: Firearms and other Weapons
I don't doubt it is valuable training tool for people who should train to shoot people. Those are excepted in my mind. And I suppose there are a few mature souls who can separate game from reality. I am cynical about how few of the latter exist. Some present company excepted. But I would not gladly ...

Re: Democrats and bombing
My father told me he did not consider it his business to raise children. His objective was to raise adults.
It has, as its objective, working oneself out of a job and creating a peer.
That is not a liberal position, which instead seeks to create a reliable voting block of dependent children.

Re: Firearms and other Weapons
I try not to point a gun at anything that I would not mind destroying. And I do not insert my finger into the trigger guard unless I have positively made my mind up to destroy that at which I am aiming. If that is you, a person, one of us (at least) just got a little less human. I can't make that a ...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons
My dad did not let us own bb guns, he thought kids would be more careless with them than a real gun. It's an interesting thought. I have done the same with my kids and it's worked fine. I don't begrudge anyone doing it different though. ^ I don't extend this to air guns, but I do to paintball. Spec...

cdgt The politicians do not reflect the electorate much at all really. :? The vast majority of Americans have no clue about how the electoral process works. Ummm..., don't look now, but I think you just proved my point. Mr. Perfect for instance is one of the most politically educated people in the ...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons
My parents, who did not have a gun in the home, signed me and my brothers up for an NRA marksmanship program. It was conducted in the shooting range at the cavernous Rec Hall on the campus of Penn State. Target .22 rifles, shooting jackets, shooting gloves (there is a nasty artery in the web of your...

Re: On Christ's Passion
It would help ever so much and make everything easier,* if Jesus had cooperated and declared himself another in a long line of prophets and not the messiah. * Easy, naturally, is the sign of truth ... right?** ** Mt 7:13 “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that ...

CG Well, the literal based on physics and forensic pathology is a tad difficult to obtain 2,000 years or so afterwards. Do not misunderstand me; I don't ask for certainty or else I will take my ball and go home. I don't ask for certainty, period. I just want to establish something very simple. It s...

Seems like a small number of patrol vessels and communications technology are ... old school. Think this through a bit further, Ibby , replace those patrol vessels with some more technology and, presto!, you'll also be a convert to drone-based bombing. Combined navies of the world? When the US goes broke and no longer supports free trade on the seas, and withdraws contribution to the security of any neighbors, say, to the north, their associated discomforture will probably limit their dancing on our graves.

Re: Democrats and bombing
Well the thing is... We're almost identical on the issues and indeed we did not necessarily agree on the candidates, but my point is that we should have a regionally based run off system where candidates get cut as the process moves along, ending in a national vote between the last two. We would ha...

Re: Democrats and bombing
Yes and no CD, in the case of the GOP we suffer from the institutional problem of conservative candidates splitting the vote of conservatives and allowing the moderates to win by attrition. So Romney, McCain, Dole, Bush 41 etc don't reflect in the way you might think. In the case of the Democrats t...

This is precisely why old Democrats need to be replaced. (Slow day in the guns thread... ) You gotta replace the Democrat electorate first. They put them in there, and most don't care about bombing one way or another. Outside of their interests. Same goes for the other side. Romney is wha...

Re: Firearms and other Weapons
The definition of "need" is very vague as well. If a handy gun helps you sleep better every night, and you need to sleep well every night, the gun is needed every night. Even if unfired. The notion that someone only needs or gets their money's worth out of a gun if they get into a conflict...
