I would say that the real problem today is there are two different standards of law in this country. The answer to that is not vigilantism but one rule of law for one and all.

Yet we are the least psychologically disposed to strive for that type of unity than at any other time in human history. How do we arrive at a standard of law when everyone is a law unto himself?......

The root of the problem is people with large fortunes gaming the political system for their own benefit. Stopping the gaming would be a good first step.
