Sadly to say you are quite right. I remember when AOL users were first able to use the internet. Seemed like the IQ of internet users was cut in half over night. I am not kidding. Outside of Usenet, people were much more polite as well.Colonel Sun wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 4:44 amI know nada about php, but was able to intuit my way through several problems I encountered due to general software experience.
While waiting for the new phpBB software to upload via ftp it occurred to me that social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. have brought forums to the masses. For example, setting up a FB Group page is trivial compared to installing and maintaining a phpBB forum.
Also I haven't checked yet, but will Twitter posts show up here now if linked to?Colonel Sun wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2016 6:21 amDon't know. I have noticed a couple of times lately that with I upload an pic attachment that another is loaded with it. I am not sure how they are showing up for other people here but the attachment with this post viewtopic.php?p=112017#p112017
Showed a second pic that is on my PC as well.
Anyone else seeing things like this?
The forum software is long overdue for an upgrade. May do it after Christmas or during the New Year holiday.
I have not yet had an opportunity to review the current extensions available in phpBB 3.2.x.Doc wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 4:08 amAlso I haven't checked yet, but will Twitter posts show up here now if linked to?Colonel Sun wrote: ↑Mon Dec 12, 2016 6:21 amDon't know. [Have not yet gotten around to changing the "phpBB" back to "Earth rise".]
When I do, I'll keep embedding/displaying Twitter and other social media in mind.
Check your settings in Firefox. It may be something to do with cookies and privacy settings. I can log in with Firefox.
I can do SQL when I have to, its been a while since I did it for money, but I doubt its that difficult, it rarely is.admin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 4:35 pm CS here.
Sorry about the log-in inconvenience.
What forum time I have has recently been spent trying to solve an upgrade problem.
Unfortunately the phpBB support forum has proven to be less than useless.
However, I think I've located the source of the problem.
Is anyone [noddy?] familiar with SQL, especially .sql files.
It seems that I need to edit out an old entry in a set of such such files.
I only have a simple question as I can write a Python program to do what I need.noddy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 6:42 amI can do SQL when I have to, its been a while since I did it for money, but I doubt its that difficult, it rarely is.admin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 4:35 pm CS here.

removing the offending line should be sufficient - making sure your commas are still sanely seperating the value rows.admin wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 9:43 pmI only have a simple question as I can write a Python program to do what I need.noddy wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 6:42 amI can do SQL when I have to, its been a while since I did it for money, but I doubt its that difficult, it rarely is.admin wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2019 4:35 pm CS here.

Searching through the SQL files in the directory /store
of the type backup_[ID consisting of letters + numbers].sql
I found the following long line
INSERT INTO phpbb_modules (module_id, module_enabled, module_display, module_basename, module_class, parent_id, left_id, right_id, module_langname, module_mode, module_auth)
VALUES (1, 1, 1, '', 'acp', 0, 1, 68, 'ACP_CAT_GENERAL', '', ''),...,
(220, 1, 1, 'acp_shareon', 'acp', 219, 287, 288, 'SO_CONFIG', 'settings', 'acl_a_board'),...
As 'acp_shareon' no longer exists, I guess [as I'm unfamiliar with SQL] that this generates the error message:
(220, 1, 1, 'acp_shareon', 'acp', 219, 287, 288, 'SO_CONFIG', 'settings', 'acl_a_board')
Two options:
1/ Change the module_enabled, module_display indices to 0, 0.
2/ Edit out via a program, as there are lots of .sql files, this part of the line
(220, 1, 1, 'acp_shareon', 'acp', 219, 287, 288, 'SO_CONFIG', 'settings', 'acl_a_board')
But do I have to also update some of the other indices in adjacent (...) so as not break some links?
Upgrading to phpBB 3.2.8 unfortunately did not solve this issue.

One of those in beddable thots responsible?
aye, a twisted love triangle.
Not by the mods.
