This puts a new geopolitical spin on Trump’s pledge to control Canada and Greenland. A coalition of US and Russia could control the Arctic.

I'm a big fan of a grande US-Europe-Russia coalition. If only the Ruzzians see the light, sober up and modernize into a non-paranoid political culture with a modicum of decent democratic process and a de-gangsterized business ecology. I would hold my breath for it till the end of times. It would put the fundamentally different CCP Panda Poo gangsters in their appropriate place of Isolated Malfunc.
Instead we see everywhere the wrong human material pulling the strings. Judgement day is coming, the gnawing of teeth and more rivers of blood and tears. If we didn't fail the Lawrd, then certainly Ourselves and Mother Nature. She sometimes chooses but never likes abortion.

The Putin + FSB crime syndicate rules Russia. Nothing new or surprising. What will murderous thug Hido de Putain come up with, cornered, with no victory to claim after 1M people went through the meat grinder already? The fact that the nuclear option is regularly vented is a sign of desparation. Would using dirty bombs or "small" tactical nukes help them? No scenario exists to make that case. They are close to mad, but not as completely mad as the Mad Mahdis of Iran.
