Everything That Came Before Must End

Lately I've been more concerned with the innovation not the agent. The event noted by Samuel Garrett has happened before with the Biden inaguration in 2020 though nothing much was said of it, but when the same phenomenon happens twice, a pattern is suspect. If it happens three times it is confirmed:

Trump’s executive orders all about power and theater

In a piece of pure political theatre, Donald Trump began his second presidency by signing a host of executive orders before a rapturous crowd of 20,000 in Washington on Monday.

The orders immediately reversed swathes of Biden administration policy and ostensibly began what Trump christened a “golden age of America” in his inaugural address.

What this means for the USA and the world concerns me. If we have abandoned the christian inspired metaphysics of a transcendent striving towards glory for the ever recurring cycle of creation/destruction, we will be like the snake swallowing its own tail. Every four years at best, look what it did for the Aztecs.......

What will it mean for the rest of the world if the One Global Power has gone full on schizophrenic? What sort of long term treaties, agreements or pacts can you make with such a polity if it just gets effaced and discarded every four years?.......

What I'm on about is a cyclical model of history vs. a linear one. The cycle can be based on a celestial/astronomic recurring cycle, a yearly seasonal one or in in this case, based on an election cycle......

My deal with the Aztecs because of the great debt they owed their gods, namely the survival of the universe; they had to offer up the lives of their people for each harvest cycle. Such a society doesn't evolve too much as such a ritual is like hitting the 'reset' button on social development. The society has to recover from such a trauma only to be faced with another one as dictated by the harvest cycle. Hitting the 'reset' button constantly impedes progress or stops it entirely.......

The western christian ethos had the advantage of a linear model of history, which doesn't hit the 'reset' button more than once in this example, and lets the program run without interrruption. Thus we have progress.....^^.......

I'm not supposing that our national election ritual will lead to blood sacrifice, but the massive policy creation/destruction cycle may have detrimental consequences for our nation and society........
